If you are dps and you want to run heroics and raids, don't worry about pvp gear.
If you're 80, just look up your class rotation and join a heroic - with a good rotation you can top people with epics and bad rotation (says ret pally in only crafted epics and still 2 green trinkes who topped fully epiced 200 and 213 paladin in naxx, and came out 5'th in a 25 man). I think about 75% don't know proper rotation, and it does matter more than gear unless you're tanking.
