Mages are hard for the single reason that they can blink your hammer of justice. What I try to do is when I hammer them, run the way they are facing because thats where they are going to blink to. Other then that they will kite you all day long and spell steal your HOF if they are smart.
Locks just suck, but this is a lvl 80 perspective. Benefit that I have is that I'm human and I have a really good pvp racial. They deathcoil me and then go for the fear, wait for it, once the fear lands trinket and smoke them.
Hope it helped a little bit, again this is an 80 perspective I cant even remember pvp'ing in the 50's.

I'm warlock and 80, ret paladins are just incredible easy because we're their counter class (holy or ret).
but a few tips from an exp. warlock:
don't start with repentinance if he's a good warlock he'll eat the debuff with his pet.
Try don't start with hammer because if he's smart he'll debuff with pet, try always to apply any other magical effect on him so his pet may not be able to eat the hammer.(if his pet don't eat, he'll simple trinket it)
is a question of time to the fear chains start and endless dots burn your hp till you bubble.
if you're in arena try always to start with his pet, that's half way to the victory (the other step is kill his next pet).
Edit: on bg's/duels my ratio against ret paladins (1vs1 without get ganked) is something like 60x2.
(way different against rogues lol something like 10x30)

Well played warlocks are tough or sometimes impossible at 80 as well. trinketing at the right time, and bubbling at the right time, you have a chance to kill them with some good crits, but don't expect much. Once you are out of bubble, and trinket is on cooldown, expect to be out of control of your toon for the duration until you are near death.
Mages are possible, but tough if played well.

Because at level 50, untalented
Frostbolt
makes the paladin move slower than us. Granted the hard part may be actually getting the frostbolt off, but at that level a frost mage will have their Elemental, so a snare is usually waiting.
Spellsteal isn't available to mages at your level, so try to time your bubble/HoF right ot get close to them. Warlocks are harder, HoF doesn't remove fears, so you need to rely on trinket and bubble. Though remember, if you don't kill them in the duration of your bubble, DR for fears will be gone. =/
A big problem is probably your lack of Divine Storm and Crusader Strike. Before those as Ret, your only instant attack is judgment, so letting you be in melee range is a lot more forgiving when you don't have those abilities.
