After just doing this myself. you need to have the following.
retail wow game paid for, this gives you free 30 days play. then you need to pay for two more months, ie 60 day game card to get the mount.
after your friend (or self in case) pays for the game, and 1 month of play you get the one month free on the host account.
you do not get the ability to summon or get 300% exp from just the trial, at least in my case I did not. it did not start until my friend bought his retail copy and registered it.

You would still have to pay the $25 for the character transfer. According to Blizzard you have to be on the same accounts anyway to do a character transfer.

First you don't need a full account to use the 300% thing did it with a trial account 4 times. for the other stuff you do need a full account.

I leveled quiet a few this way.
1-1 lvling equaling do not grant lvls. lvl to 40-60
1-1 lvling equaly do not grant lvls. lvl to 40-60
1 lvling to 40-60 by using the lvls from the 2 other account character auto lvls.
That leaves you with 3 40-60s on that one account.

Ok that was very helpfull....That way I can level to about 40 or so in 10 days on 4 char....Thats good enough for me... :)
Keep in mind that you can only grant levels to characters of lower level than the character granting levels. And the trial account restricts you to level 20. (More on trial accounts here:
