Eyes burning from the Wall...
Regardless, I am a position opposite of yours - my guild thinks I don't know anything. Our DK MT is getting all the love, and occasionally the other paladin takes a share too. Little difference does it make that I have epic sets for all talent specs, and can play them all pretty well.
I wouldn't say paladin healing is any easier than druid, shaman or priest healing. It's different. The other 3 classes have a much larger healing spells pool too choose from, which I guess is why people think healing as a paladin is so much easier - we have only 3 healing spells after all. Of course not many people factor the fact that those spells make our choice very limited, and we often need to heal a certain type of damage (raid AoE damage, to name one) with spells that are not very suited for it.
Paladin tanks have been getting some recognition lately, and I am proud being one. But we are far from OP, in neither tanking, nor DPSing. True, Retribution seems a little bit like button mashing, but I've found that just as mindless as following an exact rotation and never stepping out of it. But paladin tanking is by no means overpowered - not in the current content at least. Both Sartharion and Malygos are pretty tankadin unfriendly, and especially in OS 3D we have absolutely no possible way of succeeding without making a really big cooldown play on the breaths - our "oh ^&*!e" buttons are limited to...one.
You know how ironic it is to be called "not a real class" by a hunter, I don't need to speak of this. But as I learned recently, many people will simply refuse to leave their mindset and learn something new. I suspect there will always be paladin hatred, and I don't think there will ever be warrior hatred - that's probably something a lot of old players are too used to. Much like a habit. Shrug it off and proceed keeping people alive.

generally just leaving them to die and not resing them works wonders, but as said above its a pug hunter. /ignore is a wonderful tool.

Shockingheals: When I'm tanking, I absolutely hate getting blackmailed by the healer. There's some sort of lack of respect for people in general going around, especially for those people who dps. A healer who threatens to leave is annoying; a healer who threatens to not heal a dps is simply not doing his job, like a 500 dps hunter or a <535 def., invisible tank. I'm not here to carry you.
A healer who throws a fit usually gets booted; if he spazzes @ another player, and it's justified, then I simply do my best to calm everyone down. Course, spazzing out at someone is immature and never justified, because that other person does not control your actions. . . but this isn't a seminar. . . .
On Healer Brattiness:
I remember being told by a healer that I was going too fast in HoL. He had 4/5 mana left -- after 1st pull, no CD's used >.< . I was told this when, immediately after, I single-pulled one of those dwarves in the beginning. Little buggers must hit harder than I think -_- . The Priest sat down at the entrance, until I "acknowledged his demands." (You're right, Priestie: I'm trying to kill us all, because I get a sick thrill outta repairing my equipment. SICK! THRILL!) :D
Of course, if a DPS throws a fit, he will also get booted. If *I* throw a fit -- and I have -- I'm quick to apologize. I make an effort to be even-handed.
My point is, maturity helps ease any pain. I remember one tree: Long story short, he blew up in my face (unjustified, I promise), I tell him no sir, he calms down and admits he was wrong. Maturity, people -- try some, it's tasty.
Sigh, wordiness. . . bear with me . . . .
AAANYWAY, what I'm slowly and methodically working towards is, make sure that you don't fall prey to that attitude of elitism that plagues all too many healers -- and tanks, but I digress. Because you, guesswhonotme (no, you :) ), are only responsible for your own actions, ask *yourself* what you can do about *you*; perhaps you're unintentionally coming across as arrogant? Maybe it IS their problem, but start inside-out on this one.
Edit: And to whoever sez DPS are less important -- what was that? Sounded like Ol' Walt Whitman kicking up dirt from below . . . . ; )

I'm just now thinking of this (and don't want to delete the still relevant past bit of this post) but is it possible that you're also giving advice on people's toons? I found out really quickly that unless asked for it's usually a bad idea.
People don't like it so much when "that OP Pally" thinks they know more about their hunter than they do
.
Reminds me of a prot paladin that i ran normal VH with (running a guildy through) and i told him to use sanc because he was drinking after every wave, so the panzy alt + f4'd after the final boss with all the shard from the run. What he didn't count on was me telling his guild leader to give him a swift backhand for being a sook. In the end i just gave away some of my shards so that everyone else didn't miss out on shards due to correcting the tank that only took half the hits in the place because he was running oom so often.
