I think for Warcraft transformations, only the Worgen one would hurt; if Druid transformations caused pain, they would have told us it does by now. Since they transform so readily, it would be minimal at best; one of the brothers from Curse of the Worgen turned into a Moonkin after all, and he didn't act like he was in pain.....well except for the Satyr attacking him at the time(had the mookin body and the night elf head).

Isn't it up for interpretation, though? We haven't seen anything yet that would dissuade the belief that it causes pain. I don't care either way, but since that's how Atik chose to interpret it...
