1. Keep Earth Shield always up on tank.
2. Use Riptide firstly when tank takes damage.
3. If there's AOE mob, and mostly of your group is melee, use Chain Heal.
4. Use Lesser Healing Wave instead of Healing Wave.
This is right-on.
As far as spec goes, there are a few problems with the one you linked.
Elemental Weapons is a waste of 3 talent points for resto. The spell power gain to healing is marginal. You'll get more spell power from Enhancing Totems. But use these points last, as this is your last priority.
IMO, Healing Focus and Tidal Force are pretty important talents, and you've skipped both. If you suffer pushback while healing, and that pushback breaks your healing enough to cause a wipe, your group won't be happy with you. As for Tidal Force, read the tooltip. Enough said.
Nature's Swiftness is another important talent that you've skipped. This is your emergency button. It will make your next healing spell with a cast time, an INSTANT CAST. It's a tank-saver. Take this talent.
I'd drop the points in Healing Way. You'll use Healing Wave, but never more than once on a single target within that time frame. Waste of 3 points.
Your final build will be something like this:

Jonesi seems to have the healing mechanics down pat. Always use lesser heal wave, not healing wave (unless its on natures swiftness). Make sure your tidal waves effect is always up when casting, this increases your speed and healing efficency greatly.
To ensure this you should always open up your healing with either a riptide or a chainheal, what you do from there is your choice, but always have your tidal waves effect up when casting your single target heals.
Earthshield --->tank 'nuff said.
Chainheal is your bread and butter spell, its the reason why we aren't on the street sipping cheap alcohol because holy priests took all our raid spots. In a 10 man raid chainheal will account for 50% of my total healing done in most fights (often more) and will account for 55-70% healing done in 25 man raids. If you are at a loss to what spell you should be using in a healing situation, this is the spell you use.
Also, remember your totems! This cannot be stressed enough. Mana wave totem can be a life saver in situations where a shaman is near close to out of mana. Disease cleansing totem and poison cleansing totem (soon to be merged, yay!) can also be lifesavers on fights like Anub'arak where you need to quickly remove poison from all 5 members of your group. All the others are nice buffs that will make your party members appreciate you even more.
GL in healing, if you haven't done it before it may be a bit of a shift in thought, but one that is defintely worth the change.

Just to further bring across the point,
Glyph of Lesser Healing Wave
will be a MUST in your resto build. It helps a great deal with single target/tank healing.

Glyph of Lesser Healing Wave is the only way LHW can possibly be viable compared to HW for single target healing. If you lack the glyph, healing wave is better.
Also, I think you mean Mana Spring for you, mana tide is a resto talent.

As restoration, you will be stacking lots of mp5 in your gear naturally and with the latest changes to Mana Spring totem in 3.1 you will be receiving the same amount of mana you would as if you had Blessing of Wisdom cast on yourself (technically this will be a nerf in 3.1). In my naxx10 group our healers consist of a tree druid and me. I will not go below 80% of my mana on most boss fights, excluding those that require extensive healing such as Patchwerk, Sapphiron and KT's Ice Tombs.
Theoretically speaking Lesser Healing Wave provides less
Heal-per-mana
spent as opposed to Healing Wave, which is why you will quickly run out of mana if you're spam healing your main target just to try and keep him up. The reason shamans are much more effective at managing their mana as resto is because of their Earth Shield, Riptide and Earthliving procs that are all very mana efficient. Earth shield may cost quite a bit of mana to cast at first, but with 8 charges (assuming you've got improved ES), your tank will rarely go below 80% in health on trash mobs or even on boss fights before you have to refresh it. As an example, I run with a decent geared prot pally in heroics, and I literally just keep ES and Riptide on him, and he'll be at 95% of his health throughout the fights.
Chain Healing is the best Raid-Wide Healing Spell, and in terms of heal-per-mana spent it is the most efficient spell you have.
Healing Wave is used more as a panic-heal button with Nature's Swiftness, because it heals a substantial amount. However, it can be used for many other situations and by no means is it just limited to this.
