It makes sense; why would we be allowed to build and command garrisons without having to report to a higher figure? (Unless you RP as a non-Horde or Alliance.) I really like this; it makes me feel like I'm commanding part of the Horde.
It's more than ok to be reporting to either Saurfang or Khadgar, since they're probably the highest ranked generals on either side. But exactly because of that, I want them to not JUST stand there on our garrisons giving us orders, they could be helping on the early stages, but they better move on once we got ahold of it.
Actually, no. They're not the ones calling the shots. They're there to assist us, but its ultimately us who run the keep.
Remember, Saurfang was reporting to Garrosh in WOTLK, and Khadgar was reporting to Ad'al in TBC.
They're both there to lend us their experience in leadership, and serve as a form of advisor/mentor type, but ultimately, just as it was Garrosh barking out the orders in Warsong Hold, so is us giving the orders on the garrisons.
Not them.
Now on a more lore specific note; what would the Burning Legion do if the orcs refused to drink the blood of Mannoroth? Would they invade, or do something else?
Probably nothing. At that point, the only goal of the legion was the annihilation of the draenei, and the Iron Horde is already doing that.
The Legion only really set up the Blood to put the orcs on steroids and amp up their aggression;
Actually, the real intent was to bind them in servitude and ensure they would all obey, as more and more clans were growing dissident like the frostwolves. Of course, they also used it to empower them for the final assault.
Not in Warlords since the only Warlord with Legion backing is Gul'dan
Maybe on the orc side, but Gul'dan is not the only legion follower on the planet, there's legion-aligned draenei too. And possibly arakkoa.
True, very true. I'm curious to see where the story will go in WoD. I have a small prediction for WoD; lorewise,
I don't think we're going back to Azeroth until the end of the expansion
, and I think that something bad is going to happen to Azeroth in our absence.
Well, at the very least its confirmed that we're not going back during the 6.0 timeframe. The plot of the expansion is that we cross the Red Dark Portal to seal it off from the other side, and prevent Azeroth from being invaded. We manage to successfully do that in Tanaan Jungle during the intro experience, but that also means we're stuck on draenor with no means of going back (Gameplay-wise I imagine we will still be able to go back to our capitals).
Whether or not this lasts only until a later patch (6.1 or 6.2) or during the whole expansion remains to be seen. For example, in MoP we were stuck in pandaria during all of 5.0 from a lore perspective (from a gameplay point of view we were of course, able to go anywhere as usual) and the horde/alliance didn't arrived in bulk until much much later.

Ok so
this
is a very early, low ress, buggy, and blurry screenshot of early alpha, but as you can see, Saurfang isn't the one calling the shots. He served as an advisor to Thrall, then served as an advisor to garrosh, and now he serves as an advisor to us.
Just because big-name NPCs are gonna be dropping by for a visit, wont make this feel any less like "our" place. So yeah, I still 120% disagree with that wow insider article.
On the contrary, seeing familiar faces (particularly of well beloved NPCs, be them high ranking like Saurfang, or low ranking like Riko) is gonna put a big smile on my face and will be MUCH better than seeing a bunch of nobodies that I've never seen before, nor will I ever see again.
Puh-lease, gimme riko, Nazgrel, Rexxar, Saurfang, Aponi, Liandrin, Belmont, Anselm, Thura, Dezco, Rhokan, Chen, Li Li, Cho, and Taran Zhu.
Rather than Horde grunt number 19.
Edit: Also, it seems that my hopes are coming true.
Not ALL of the Iron Horde is evil, a few defectors can be hired as mercenaries, or even formally join the horde (dunno about the alliance, I'm guessing they'll recruit from the evil draenei that worship the legion).
How do I know this? one of the NPCs in your garrison is a blackrock chef.
=D here's to hoping all the Saurfangs (Father, Brother, and Son), Eitrigg, and Doomhammer all join us at some point.

So,isn't one of the theories on how sylvanas went from banshee to dark lady saying that she possessed a night elf, then, after finding a way to destroy the night elf's ability to break free for good, went to whats left of lordaeron's capital city and preformed a dark ritual that attracted lots of ppl as it transformed her body overtime...causing her to take back her high elf form...but as it does that it also twists the body...turning it into a undead kind of fashion of the high elf....until she finally becomes the dark lady/banshee queen?

Um....No. She's possessing her own corpse. The Night Elf thing was just the limitations of Vanilla; she has always been in the body of a High Elf, since she died as a High Elf.

Well, its not like we need more confirmation but....... look at
this
.
=D
Blood Elves and Draenei, fighting together once more. Doesn't this brings back warm and fuzzy memories from TBC? Only this time its not neutral blood elves and draenei, its HORDE blood elves and ALLIANCE draenei.
The new expeditionary blood elf force is the Sunsworn. They include Blood Knight Paladins, Farstrider Rangers, and Sunreaver Magisters.
They also include quite the contingent of
Blood Golems
.
Looks like they managed to synthesize Ra-Den's anima blood after all O_O
TAKE THAT, MOGU. We did in less than a year what those suckers could not do in millenia. HA!
Sin'dorei FTW.
(PD: their magisters look
SO VERY AWESOME.
)
Edit: Calling it right now, Talador is gonna be my favorite zone. And I hope to dear Christ they later allow us to move our garrisons, because if they do, THIS is definitely gonna be where I'm parking mine.

Its been too long. FAR far too long since she's been gone. Also I love that she's wielding Quel'delar. I guess that means the sunreaver ending for that quest is the canon one. IN YO FACE SILVER COVENANT SLUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the Sunreavers stole another relic from Dalaran before getting purged from there? Who'd imagine something like that, huh? ;D

Quel'Delar cannot be stolen. In the (hopefully non-canon, I hope SO MUCH Liadrin got it) Alliance version, Lor'themar tries to take it away from its rightful wielder and is sent tumbling across the room like a ragdoll.
Furthermore, Quel'Delar is not a relic of Dalaran.

The air is thick with green eyed knife ear superiority.
Bah! I, for one, am HAPPY to see Liadrin get some more screen time. It really felt like she should have had a MUCH bigger role in TBC than the few instances she showed up, what with her being the first of the Blood Knights and whatnot.
Of course, I'm more upset about Aponi Brightmane and her friend not getting any sort of real recognition other than being trainers. Here's hoping that they get some reason to show up sooner rather than later.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Lady Liadrin and her story. And despite any faction bias, a sword named QUEL'DELAR really should belong to High or Blood Elves.
This is another of those things that should be dealt IN GAME rather than out off it. I mean, why shouldn't both factios have the same ending at the sword's questline? Seems rather dumb to work into gameplay that ends up being scrapped for a "hmm well lets just roll a dice and see who gets it, niiice..." type of story.

Ok first thing, quel'delar is not a dalaran relic. Didn't you do the questline? its a relic of Silvermoon.
Secondly, the purification happened in Wrath of the Lich King, WAY WAY WAY before the purge.
And third, the sword cannot be stolen, it chooses it wielder, and if it doesn't chooses you, it will kick your ass if you try to wield it.
The sunreaver ending from WOTLK is the canon one, and the sword is rightfully in blood elven hands. Where it belongs.
Quel'Delar cannot be stolen. In the (hopefully non-canon, I hope SO MUCH Liadrin got it) Alliance version, Lor'themar tries to take it away from its rightful wielder and is sent tumbling across the room like a ragdoll.

I always knew the sunreaver ending was the canon one for a simple reason. Lor'themar tries to take the sword from its rightful wielder in the horde version too. For every race, EXCEPT blood elves. The blood elves got a unique ending, rather than the generic one the other 9 races got. Why would they do that if theirs was not canon?

No kidding, I wasn't very thrilled that she was removed from the game in 2.4, which got her out of silvermoon, and basically gave her what amounts to a cameo role for the rest of the game. She shows up once at the end of the sunwell raid, once at the end of the Quel'delar quest, and once in sharrath for a scripted event. Not fair. She was the first blood knight, she should had a larger role.
I was expecting SO BADLY that she had a role in 5.2 as part of the Sunreaver Onslaught. I guess it was for the best that she didn't show up, because the way they handled both factions in that island was quite boring.
Of course, I'm more upset about Aponi Brightmane and her friend not getting any sort of real recognition other than being trainers. Here's hoping that they get some reason to show up sooner rather than later.
Yeah =/ I really feel like Dezco's role in MoP could, and SHOULD had been filled by Aponi, but as I said before, someone high up at blizzard must have a thing against women being positive protagonists. They're either doomed to obscurity, or when they finally are used, are reduced to psychos that need to be put down.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Lady Liadrin and her story. And despite any faction bias, a sword named QUEL'DELAR really should belong to
High
or Blood Elves.
Except there are no playable high elves, so any ending where the high elves keep the blade would essentially screw over all the alliance players who actually hoped to use the sword.
I know I have not used any other blade as a transmog option the moment they added that feature in.
This is another of those things that should be dealt IN GAME rather than out off it.
And it was....... the quest was never in any book, all lore regarding the sword was dealt with in-game, and the revelation of who's the canon wielder was also unveiled in-game rather than a book or short story.
I mean, why shouldn't both factios have the same ending at the sword's questline?
No, because the sword is a Sin'dorei relic, and only one faction has that race playable. Besides, night elves already have Quel'serrar, a blade that canonically is theirs. Its why the blood elf ending is unique, whereas trying to do the quest with any other race, alliance or horde, yields the same result.

The sword is a Sin'dorei relic
Technicaly it's a prismatic (?) blade and was forged by dragons and was given as a gift to the elves of quel'thalas.
So, something like the satue of liberty for a comparison.

Its still an heirloom that has belonged to Silvermoon champions for centuries. It belongs on the hands of another silvermoon champion alone.

It's about as glorious as a drill to the forehead.
Honestly, Quel'delar is one of those things that shouldn't be canonized. It was a player quest chain for player characters to become the bearer, it shouldn't be given to a lore character and thus render every player's personal experience moot.
Or maybe I'm just bitter because any gaming company that canonizes anything ambiguous always gives me the short end of the stick.
Should it's existance be canon or not in your opinion?
Or any of the prismatic weapons to come in wow or in fan-fics?

It's existence should be canon, but who wields it? No.
Lore should enhance, not undermine, a player experience.
While I haven't played in at least 2 years, I don't feel like I'm be undermined by this. I just think its awesome.
Of course, when it comes to most things in a story I'm WAY too easygoing about it - so long as it isn't an adaptation, for some reason whenever adaptation change things I get upset. Blizz could give Thrall our entire loadout and I'd probably be okay with it - I'd laugh, but I wouldn't feel cheated or hurt by it.
