Seriously, why would the alliance care if Vol'jin let Sylvanas raises their dead? She gives them the option of joining the forsaken or returning to death, so what would be the problem?
You just answered your own question. Why would they want to give the enemy more troops? Not to mention the whole desecration of the dead thing and that no one really wants to be a Forsaken right off.

Who cares, they let them go back to the grave if they don't wanna be forsaken, only problem is if they don't give them a proper burial.
I'd imagine Sylvanas might be a bit more discriminating after the whole Godfrey thing. It shows that she really doesn't have as much control over them than she originally thought. And her being as paranoid as she is, I do wonder where that might lead.

The whole thing during the battle for Andorhol and the quests around may say otherwise.

The whole thing during the battle for Andorhol and the quests around may say otherwise.You mean the ones they raised? They handwaved that as post-reanimation madness or something like that.

I didn't really liked that explanation, it sounded more like a cheap hand-wave, rather than an actual addressing of the conflict in lore. Sylvannas and the forsaken are supposed to hate with a passion standard undead, as they are mindless, stupid, and slaves. They want free-willed undead who can think for themselves, and who can follow you or choose not to follow you out of their own accord, which is why they've gone to such painstaking meassures to obtain the Valks. If all they wanted was regular mindless obedient undead troops, they'd just use standard necromancy and call it a day.
So, having established that they revile standard necromancy and mind-control, it really is offputting how quickly the newly risen are to turn against their former allies. I mean the mages in Ambermill turned against their allies quite literally seconds after getting up. One moment its like:
"GLORY TO THE ALLIANCE!, LETS RETAKE LORDAERON"
<gets shot>
<gets rezzed by valk>
"FOR THE FORSAKEN, DEATH TO THE ALLIANCE, FOR THE DARK LADY!"

Finished the last scenario on the Isle of Thunder today (sort of been skipping my dailies lately so I had to do some catching up whoops.)
Taran Zhu is the most amazing person ever, and I have mad respect for both the Kirin Tor and the Sunreavers after the confrontation.
^
Hear hear.
I still don't like vereesa though >_> ("They killed my husband" my ass. Scapegoating rings a bell missy?)
But Taran Zhu was an absolute BADASS on that sequence. I was worried he'd get killed due to his injuries, but if 5.3 is any indicative, he gets better. His speech to both Jaina and Lor'themar was made of well over 8 flavors of awesomeness.

Is there some lore reason why there aren't any Night Elves in the to be known as Eastern Kingdoms post Sundering? Didn't they have something of a near global empire before the whole legion affair?

Nope; they were on the western coast of the Well. They fought the trolls all over Kalimdor, but the major population centers were in what would be Ashenvale and the like; had there been any on that side when the Portal exploded, they probably didn't survive long in the new traumatic landscape.

All things considered, Lei Shen ended up being one of the best written villains in this game. Its such a shame that his actual involvement with the plot is so minor. Really liked him as a villain.

It seems to me like rogues are becoming more and more like a magic class (a la shadowstep, shadow dance, shadow blades, shroud of concealment, etc.). With that in mind, is it plausible to RP a rogue whose shadowy magic / attunement stems from the light, much like how shadow priests use the light?
Thanks.

Not really; it's more of a Rogue learning how to blend in so seamlessly with the shadows that he literally becomes one himself. So yeah, it's not the same thing as the Light/Shadow that priests use, and wouldn't make sense with regards to a Rogue and how they are built, be it in game or Lore.

Well, back during Redux, we kinda had this discussion.
There were two Rogue characters: my own and Doug's. My own was pretty clearly based off the combat spec, while Doug's was more in-line with the step that uses Shadowstep (Been FOREVER since I'm played a rogue. >.<)
In terms of RP, his character literally used magic to vanish from sight and move through the shadows.
So if you want, it's perfectly possible to explain your rogue as a stealthy magic-user. (Think something like a specialized battle mage)

Is it plausible for there to have been pandaren outside of Pandaria and the Wandering Isle prior to the events of Mists? On one hand, you have Chen, who's been all over the place ever since the events of WCIII. On the other hand, he's the only one; there have been no reported sightings of other pandaren prior to Mists, with the possible exception of the pandaren settlement in Stonetalon (
www.wowpedia.org/Pandaren_settlement
). The reason I ask is because I want to RP as a pandaren who joined the Horde in its early days, but I'm not sure if it's plausible.

No it's not; the Pandaren settlement was from the RPG books, which are non-canon. Since Mists came out, they've retconned all but Chen as being stuck on the continent or on the Isle.
