I still think the KalecxJaina ship can work (since they don't have conflicting personalities, and seem like they could get along), but since Christie Golden is writing it it's gonna fail.Except...one more freaking time: Kirygosa and Tyrigosa already exist, and are a 1000 times better match for the flight that is the least populated.

If they did, that would be the absolutely worst piece of utter @#$% Blizzard ever came up, beating out the 'there must always be a Lich King'.

and that was as low as the rock bottom was in terms of lore for them. To sink deeper would actually be an achievement of its own.
And for the love of god DON'T MENTION Varian+Jaina, someone at blizzard could hear you.
I swear to god, there's 3 things in lore that will make me leave this game, and one of them will be jaina marrying that bonehead idiot.
Besides, how would you even call that ship? "Va-jaina"?
On another topic, it just occured to me........... why the hell wasn't skree's short story about garrosh chosen as canon on the "leader short story" contest? his is FAR FAR BETTER than the "average at best" one chosen as winner.
For anyone who hasn't read it, you can find it
here
As someone who's read countless fan-fiction, I can tell you this is perhaps one of the finest I've ever read on my life. Not only he captured FLAWLESSLY Garrosh's character, but also, unlike the short story that actually won the contest, THIS ONE HAS A FRIKKING POINT! Its not a pointless flashback, its an actual look at the character of garrosh beneath the rage-o-holic surface, and its incredible.
If you hate garrosh, this story wont make you like him, but it will make you understand his point of view (however twisted it may or may not be)
its such a shame that a story as detailed, and as awesome as that didn't won, but the piece of crap that now
Sits on the official site
won.
There is no justice.

Because Skree didn't submit it and I don't think he finished it either.

ahh, that's a shame. That he didn't submitted it that is, because in its current state it covers more than enough. All the events that happen in northrend are already known to the players, only the background info would had made a nice story on its own.

It burns, brotha, it really does. Varian would not marry Jaina - his son is old enough not to need more motherly care (and odds are he was or is at some point tutor anyway), their possible progeny could pretend for the throne of Kul'Tiras and I doubt Varian would want to get in odds with Tandred, and it has never once been shown that they are more than friends.
Of course, Varian probably reminds Jaina of his childhood friend - Arthas, to an extent. Hot-blooded people who ultimately mean well (talk about best intentions). It would probably hurt Jaina too much.
On that note, what are the other two

A: Killing off thrall in a pointless, or inglorious way. He's my favorite character on the whole damned game (Specially after reading Lord of the Clans), as it is, the treatment given to him on Cataclysm was pretty bad (from making stupid decisions like leaving Gallywix as Goblin leader, to PUTTING FRIKKING GARROSH as leader of the horde, seriously my big green hero WHAT THE F--K!)
As my favorite character on the game, not only I want him to have a reasonable (yet not excessive) degree of protagonism (Like how he was handled on TBC and WOTLK, exposure, but not excessive) but I also want him to live, so him pulling a "heroic sacrifice" will be a huge turn-off for me in terms of sticking around.
B: If they keep hitting the horde with the "
Villain Ball
"
Alliance and Horde are supposed to be Gray vs Gray, unfortunately, all the gray, dishonorable, and murky actions of the alliance are pretty well hidden under the rug, whereas all the crap the horde has done is plain in the open. Nowhere is this more blatant than in the forsaken. Horde gets an entire race of borderline nihilistic sociopaths that are 2 steps away from being Scourge 2.0
Alliance gets anything even remotely similar? nope.
To drive the knife deeper, the few times the alliance does something despicable, they deem it necesary to provide them with a perky and convenient excuse, whereas the horde is given no such excuse most of the time. I've put up with this crap for 2 expansions now (this never happened on Vanilla or TBC, back then both factions were truly gray) and if things don't turn around on MoP I'm done.
I mean seriously, one would think that after everything the horde has done on Cataclysm, it would be the turn to paint the alliance with a little black coating, by having them destroy savagely a major horde city but nope, that would not do, horde must be EVUL, lets have them destroy theramoore and make Jaina into Sylvannas 2.0 while we're at it.
/shudder.
Hell, for someone uninitiated on warcraft lore, the horde does looks pretty blackish from the outside, it takes a lot of digging, and a lot of knowledge of the backstory, as well as expanded lore to see the black in the alliance, and the white in the horde, but by default, at simple glance, the horde looks just black, and the alliance looks just white.
That is BS for me.
MoP will mark a before and an after on the horde, since we're finally getting ride of that stupid asshat Garrosh, but if the status quo of the horde doesn't changes after that, I can safely say I'll pack my bags and leave the game for good.
I've been very patient with them regarding these 3 points, and so far, nada, still getting dissappointment one after another. MoP is my last chance for blizzard to stop ruining the horde I love, the one from Warcraft 3, that band of honorable outcasts wanting to survive in a harsh land, wanting to put the demons of their past to rest, and to create a brighter future for their people. THAT is the horde I signed on when I began playing, and if I don't get it back, I'm done.

The whole reason they're doing what they're doing with Garrosh is to show the horde that the path they're going down is the wrong one, and that they need to get back on the right track again. I don't see them keeping the horde in it's current state forever.
they better not, or they'll be losing one of their most ardent and loyal fans. Which I know they probably don't give a rat's ass, but still.
I've been a hardcore fan of the warcraft franchise for what is almost 20 years now, and I'd hate it to end like this.

FOR THE WAR3 HORDE!
Fixed.
If Post-WOTLK horde or SPECIALLY post-cata horde, is all we're gonna have, then they can keep it.

Since the book isn't out yet, it's too early to speculate on anything.
Edit: But I can honestly say, there is no way in hell that the Kirin Tor joins the Alliance...since that would mean no Horde can go into Dalaran.

And they have a Northrend revamp in the work, same as the Outland revamp.
So no, I don't see the biggest gathering of Mages suddenly deciding to join a faction....especially since you know, they already have faction groups that are within them: Silver Covenant for all High Elves, Humans, Night Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Draenei and now Worgen. And the Sunreavers for Blood Elves, Forsaken, Trolls, Goblins.
Athas Sunreaver is a member of the 6, which is secondary government for the Kirin Tor; unless he's done something incredibly treacherous, he's still going to be a member.
And since I know it's coming: Those Kirin Tor in Silverpine and Hillsbrad aren't the same as the Northrend group; they are the leftovers of those who didn't go north because they refused to work with the Horde. Technically, those are hold outs of the Grand Alliance and are one and all, humans.

I wonder if this means Rhonin died.
One can only hope.
ahhh who are we kidding here? if he dies, Knaak will just invent a deus ex machina bullsh1t to bring him back. Probably as a dragon. Cuz dragons are keewl, am I right?
/shudders.
Anyway, this means Jaina goes neutral and becomes the leader of the Kirin Tor, or, the sunreavers get kicked out, possibly because they aided the horde in getting the focusing iris, and the kirin tor becomes alliance, which I'd prefer.
Speculation, which is fine I guess, but still I'd advice to not jump to conclusions.
Its (to say the least) extremely unlikely for former neutral factions to just like that kick their members of one faction and join another. What you just wished to happen is as unlikely as the cenarion circle kicking all the taurens and trolls and going full alliance, or the argent crusade kicking all the taurens/trolls/undead/orcs/blood elves/ and goblins and going full alliance.
Ain't gonna happen pal.
Is as extremely unlikely as the Earthen Ring just deciding to kick out all the dwarves, and draenei and going full Horde. That too ain't gonna happen either.
Athas Sunreaver is a member of the 6, which is secondary government for the Kirin Tor; unless he's done something incredibly treacherous, he's still going to be a member.
Actually, "The Six" are the MAIN rulers of the Kirin Tor, and its the chairman of the Six, who rules over the rest of the members as well as the rest of the mages. In that regard, Rhonin was sorta the President, and the other 5 members were the vice-presidents. Given that half of the current six are horde, its even more unlikely that they'd been just kicked out just like that.

Still leaving out in that speculation of a big fat why: Since you know, no other Neutral faction leader has ever rejoined one of the factions after a big change went down.
I could also see a large number of the Kirin Tor rebelling against that idea, since the Alliance just sat on their butts while Dalaran was obliterated by the Scourge and Archimonde; it was the forces of the Tor that tried to hold them back after all.
And that still leaves out the largest Why: Why in the world Athas Sunreaver, after doing all the crap he did to prove to the Tor that his faction was trustworthy, would he throw it all away for the Horde that doesn't seem to give two dull coppers in regards to his own people...this being the same guy who more then likely lobbied for the inclusion of the Horde mages into the Tor.
So, while speculation can be 'fun', bias speculation is just silly.
If anything, Jaina becoming a formal member of the Kirin Tor again would mean she's given up on the Alliance itself; considering what's happened to the city in the last 11 years, you can't blame her in the least.
