And they didn't really want the players help; also, they only tell you to go to the Cenarion Druidess there with extreme reluctance, since that means they have to admit they are weak. They are still insular and still all about Gilneas first, the rest of the Alliance after.

<name>: the act we are about to commit must not be made known to the townspeople of Surwich. Morale is low enough as-is."Right there; its not about killing the tree, it's about asking for help.

Because they have to admit that they aren't as strong and powerful as they thought they were when they 'reclaimed' the land from the taint of the Dark Portal; having outsiders being the ones to put him down is even worse, since it makes the Gilneas nation look weaker.

If you say so....but then again, you still won't go and do the Silverpine/Hillsbrad quests so....

I'm with Sold on this one, Adams. I don't see the proof that the Blastard Lands Gilneans - at least - have any problem with outsiders. As for the rest of Gilneas, given the lack of other NPCs its hard to tell - but neither is it a definate sign that they don't want to help or is it a sign they solely care about Gilneas.
Think about it: all of Gilneas' soldiers were fighting the Forsaken during their rejoining with the Alliance. Those that fled were mostly civilians and nobles (I'm not counting the PC's because that's an entirely different world from set lore), leaving the soldiers to continue the fight alongside the Alliance Armed Forces that came to their aid. Now think logisticly: what sense would it make for the Alliance to all of a sudden pull any portion of the Gilnean soldiers out of the battle to send them somewhere else? Especially given the state of the war when last we saw it (heavily in the Forsaken's favor).
If Gilneans were a playable zone (which baffles me why its not, given the possibilities of the Phasing System) I'm sure we'd see Gilneans being more than willing to accept aid. Given all they've been through they seem to be humbled enough to accept the night elves' aid, so I doubt they would hold a grudge against the more human Alliance races.
EDIT: And how does Silverpine or Hillsbrad qualify for a Gilnean PoV? It's all Forsaken PoV, and Bloodfang - even though it's hard to say whether he can be considered a Gilnean or not (in terms of mindset) - actually worked with Dwarves.

Well, there's a good write up of Gilneas and the Worgen Druids in regards to the rest of the world.
That's what started this Morec. And the other two zones are needed to get some ideas; Sold didn't realize just what Bloodfang was doing in Hillsbrad after all.

and there's no proof them blowing up the oil rigs did any damage to the forest, and they even burned the oil, so it's all gone. Off-topic from the central discussion, but that would still damage the forest, due to the smoke/oil pollution in the ground air and water.
I've watched the video quest chain by Jesse Cox back before cata came out, I remember it all.Watching a video is not the same as actually doing it.

This is utterly true in all but the matter that's being discussed. Since the conversation is about lore and not gameplay, watching the quest chain in a video is a perfectly legit way to learn about the story. Unless, of course, you can offer proof that its not from a
story
point of view.
I watched a full playthrough of Alan Wake on Youtube, and I understand the plot just as well as anyone who played the game would have. The same applies for Warcraft, methinks.

No, the Mayor is willing to accept the help(since he really has no choice at that point); the rest of the town? From what it sounds like, not so much.
Edit: And an oil refinery is going to screw up the land even if they do their best to not overly damage it, just simple logic.

If that's how you want to see it, fine: But I see it as the opposite, and there are others who do agree, same as your view.

That's something interesting.
Hope it's not the racial mount, but still cool.

QQ, society doesn't accept us anymore, lets go hang out with the bad kids and listen to linkin park.
EJEM, Death Knights are NOT emo kids. If anything they are the most driven focused military force on the planet. And while they are mistrusted by the rest of society, their actions in the northrend campaign cemented their reputation as reliable units.
Considering there is a dwarf DK serving on the alterac alliance platoon, as well as 2 DKs being generals on the battle of andorhal, I'd say the whole "society doesn't accept us anymore" doesn't really applies to them.
It would apply more to the forsaken, but then again, its easy to mock someone who's rejected, till it happens to you. Worgens got cursed, and instead of being persecuted like mangy beasts, they were welcomed with open arms into the alliance.
Forsakens on the other hand were cursed with a terrible condition (That doesn't have any benefits at all like the worgen curse) and were executed, chased away and killed by who used to be their former friends and family.
As the old saying goes: "Treat someone like a monster long enough, and soon you will have a monster"
Edit: Dunno what to say about the Yak mount. Didn't liked the ram mount of the dwarves, so its possible I wont like this one either.

Heh, don't you want to run down people on the back of a yak, screaming this
song
at the top of your lungs?
