Nothing have been said about the Mantid going insane as of MoP. The only official announcement is that they decided to attack 900 years after the last time rather than a 1000 (which might be an insane move anyway).Which is not something they do.
But I hardly doubt that the Mantid are related to the Silithid/Nerubians, one way or another, since the other two are related due to being the same species, Aqir, before the Sundering. If they are related to C'Thun (other than being a sub-race of the Aqir) will indeed be interesting to find out.
And C'thun had a hand in the Aqir empire as well heh.

Separated from the rest of Pandaria by the Great Wall, the rampaging mantid people of the Townlong Wastes devour everything in their path in order to build their own crystalline empire of ruthless warriors and scheming feudal lords. The pandaren are left reeling when the mantid's thousand-year cycle of aggression kicks off a hundred years too early and their greatest warriors burst through the great wall.
The beleaguered pandaren must now face the worst swarm in recorded history while trying to isolate the cause of the
mantid's erratic behavior.
Heh, look at the last line there.
On another topic: Do you know if Pandaria was an island before the Sundering or became an island because of the sundering? I have not found any good references to that.
Originally, the Pandarens were suppose to have gone West long before the start of the War of the Ancients as they were disgusted by the arcane addition of the Night Elves and what they were attempting with the Well. In the Warcraft RPG books, Pandaria was said to be a continent to the West of what is now Kalimdor...but as we've seen, it's somehow moved to the south now.

since the official site says pandaria splitted off kalimdor during the sundering, then no, it wasn't always an island.
Part of kalimdor, after sundering it split off just like northrend did, and then it was engulfed in mist to hide it from the rest of the world.
Ya know, something the narrator (which again sounds a lot like Thrall :P) says in the trailer doesn't make much sense.
he said "for all the challenges we have faced, and all the places we've been,
Azeroth's limits have yet to be revealed
"
ya know, considering that flying technology and teleportation already exist, one would think the number 1 priority would had been to explore the world and discover every single island, continent, and zone that exists within the world.
heck, there's a digital holographic map of azeroth in the ulduar complex (In the halls of lighting region) that should had been enough to dispel any misteries still hidden within azeroth's unexplored borders.
We also saw azeroth from the pinnacle of black temple, being able to see the entire world from up there should had allowed us to see any non-explored land-masses large enough to be counted as continents.
and yet, despite all that, we still stumble upon places never-before-visited, like the lost island, pandaria, twilight highlands, and uldum.
They kinda gave a vague handwave for uldum, but not for the others.

And just because they have it, doesn't mean they are looking: Look at Kalimdor, most of the Human Empires had no idea it was there after all.

Mogu? Will someone please tell me where they are getting this info? I am really behind on this Pandaria stuff it would seem.
Blizzard's main website, the Mist of Pandaren tab.
And just because they have it, doesn't mean they are looking: Look at Kalimdor, most of the Human Empires had no idea it was there after all.
Keep in mind that exploration requires a lot of foolishness and going against the grain. Only a Kul Tirite could likely be able to handle the necessary grit that is world exploration through sea. In addition, who's to say that they never managed teleportation on unknown lands only to realize that they had no way back.
It's not because they have the means to do this "easily" that it is easily done.Yup, it's only recently that 'real' air ships(as opposed to the floating bombs and the short range scout craft of the second war) have been taking off; now that they are around, they can move a bit faster then regular ships, so it's 'easier' to start exploring the world, but as there is still a global war on, those vessels are being used for more 'important' work heh. But yeah, there's also the fact that you have to know where you are going when you teleport, or else it could end very very badly.

Well, if the bomb bay door can close, the Skybreakers may be able to land on the water, since they are over sized boats heh. But yeah, that's the other issue, as well as getting fuel for the engines.

So, changing gears: Doing
this quest
, and I've noticed something: When you 'kill' the Gilnean ghost, their body gives off a bright flash of light and the soul raises up....but it's not the Worgen version of them, it's the Human. Why this is 'important' because it may show that the Curse isn't a blood line thing, and may only effect the Gilneans in regards to being attacked/bitten, so it's entirely possible that all of our original discussion about the Curse in regards to children may not even matter; as in, it won't get passed on to the children even if both parents are Worgen.

there's a lot of inconsistencies regarding the worgens. Because some worgens (Old pyrewood) would only transform at night, whereas others can do so at will. Some worgens (Wolfcult) revert to human when killed, while others don't.

Well to be fair, the Pyrewood and the Wulfcult groups weren't 'real' Worgens, since they had their version of the curse altered by Arugal's magic, rather then being the straight up thing. After all, the Duskwood originals were the wild pack from back in the day who couldn't transform back.
But if the quest does mean that the Curse only affects the body, it shouldn't be a passed through to the next generation, which means the Worgens may or may not be a one generation race....at least, as long as more people don't get bitten heh.

And the ghosts you kill for the quest are in their Worgen forms as well; but it's not the Worgen that rises up as the spirit, it's the human form.

The bodies are still Worgen, but the Spirits are Human; showing they are free of the Curse after death. So more then likely, it won't pass along, as they are meant to be a one generation life form.
