Our hope lies within Golden and her Jaina novel.
I swear to god if she dares to marry jaina to varian on that book, a part of me will die.
=( I'm a huge fan of strong women ( Not for nothing I MARRIED ONE XD /wink /wink) and jaina used to be one of my favorites. She deserved far better treatment than what wow has given her.
though in all honesty golden SHINES at redeeming scrappy characters, she made me feel simpathy for NER'ZUL, out of all people, so yes, Jaina can still be saved.
=( almost all the strong women in wow are doomed to either
A: become crazy (Sylvannas, maiev, ect)
B: Become damsels in distress (Jaina, Tyrande, ect)
C: Disapear from the face of the earth (Liandrin, Garona, Zaela, Voss)

Well we still wait for Turalyon and Alleria to return. Then there're those two girl orphans (heck, in blood elf case, a bronze dragon acknowledges she has a future of great deeds with ambiguous moral ground).
Like I said before, Sylvanas is a bitсh and needs to die. Seriously. I know people don't like Koltira, and I know that what she's done to him is partly justified, but still.

=/ I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if after those 2 finnally return, Alleria is reduced to just being a mommy, with zero action in her future.
Look at what they did to Vereesa, she spent 1/4th of Day of the Dragon complaining, and the other 3/4ths being a damsel in distress needing to be rescued.
as for the 2 orphans, I'll be honest with you bro', I think blizz plain simply forgot about them. I doubt we will see any of them at all.
Endtime marks the end of the infinite dragonflight, this means after cataclysm, there wont be any more CoT instances at all, and I somehow doubt that either Doorna or Salendria will grow in time to have any impact on the future 2 expansions left for wow (as according to that unofficial timeline for blizz products, wow is slated to end on 2015 to give way to whatever titan will end up being)
and as for Sylvannas, yes, I've grown to hate what they've done to her. A pity too, because she used to be one of my favorite characters, and reminded me of Sarah Kerrigan in a lot of ways, but then hey had to screw it all up, and rather than make her cunning, and clever, strong, dominating, and what-not, they made her a backstabbing double-crossing, delusional, paranoic, psycotic freakshow of a character.
tsk tsk tsk
Edit:
O_o we can say "*!@#$" without being censored now? WTF? I tottaly missed that memo.
hey what the hell? u can say the B-word ( and I could quote it) but if I write it its censored? da'hell?

Still gonna feel good running a sword through her. Better yet, bonus points for Thassarian decapitating her with his dual swords Anakin-against-Dooku style.

well, u're gonna get your chance to vent some steam on her in endtime.
I kinda wish varian was there too, I have a score to settle with that mary-sue chinblock hypocrite.

Just wondering, have you read his short story already?

nah, never saw the point of those, in fact I've only read 3 short stories (Garrosh, Gallywix, Gelbin) and haven't been too motivated to read the rest.
I supose once they all have been released, I may read them all in a single go, but rite now I dont feel very motivated to read them as for the most part they add too little (or nothing at all) to the overall storyline.
I do wonder if they plan to release stories for major lore figures that aren't exactly "leaders" per se.
Like jaina, or thrall, or tirion, darion, malfurion, liandrin, aponi, ect.

Varian reconciles with Anduin, that's gotta count for something.
Oh, and Jaina compares him to Arthas in her mind. Dunno why, but I liked this part (even though it may foreshadow a ship rising).

I'll go ahead and agree that Varian and Jaina probably shouldn't get married to each other. They don't really get along and honestly it would feel more like a political marriage then anything.
Varian doesn't really have to be married since his relationship with with his son is far more relevant to the overall story. Likewise the fact that Anduin is the obvious heir to the throne means there is no pressing need for him to have children.
As for Jania...I could see her getting married working out, but not with Varian. Have her marry a minor character who would have his own strengths but isn't someone she really has to rely on the majority of the time (maybe have
her
come to
his
rescue once or twice). Jania would still be the more important of the pair.

humph...... Varian's relationship with his son is about the only redeeming quality he has for me (I cant stand hypocrisy, this is the main reason I can't stand him at all though) so good for him if he finnally started to pull his sh1t together.
as for that other thing you said........
Oh, and Jaina compares him to Arthas in her mind
ohhh boy :S that can't be good.
Edit:
At least varian is not a blonde :P jaina seems to lean towards THOSE types of men.

You do realize that many people consider Mal to be insufferable as well, right? And not only Illidan sympathizers, mind you.
first time I hear of that.
I've never heard anyone complaining about malfurion EVER. Not on Warcraft 3, nor on War of the ancients, much less on world of warcraft where everyone was jumping like a teen girl about to go to prom when they announced he was returning. I thought I would point out that there have been quite a couple of anti-Mal/pro-Illidan threads around on this board alone.

darn, I gotta pay more attention to the board then, cuz I swear I've never heard any malfurion bashing before. EVER.

and knock it off with the "uber powerful god mode shaman" crap, ok? I've already told you multiple times before, that they've actually TONED DOWN his shamanistic powers, given that in the past he demolished a castle, 1shoted a necropolis, and obliterated AN ARMY by himself BEFORE cataclysm hit.
After the Cataclysm hits, what does he do? Oh... yeah... he HOLDS THE FREAKING WORLD TOGETHER BY
HIMSELF
ON HIS SIDE OF THE WORLD.
I guess my eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw nobundo and muln eartfury there helping him hold it................
wait........
nope
if anything you need your eyes
checked
and these are the only ones represented ingame, lorewise, as we see in Twilight of the Aspects, more than half of the earthen ring is there taking turns at holding the world from collapse (you didn't REALLY think these 3 compadres where standing there 24/7 without food or sleep did ya?)
Toning down his shamanistic powers, you say? Wasn't the whole point of leaving the Warchief spot to Garrosh in order to... y'know, have more power in order to tackle on the Maelstrom collapsing into Deepholm?
actually the point of leaving the warchief spot was......... pure and complete bullsh1t actually, given that the other members of the earthen ring can be BOTH members of the alliance/horde and still do their duty to the world. Heck, malfurion is leading the night elves AND the cenarion circle just fine.
and when I say tone down I mean tone down.
pre-cataclysm, thrall has done some pretty impressive shamanic feats, the more memorable ones being when he single-handedly destroyed a castle, blew up a necropolis out of the sky, and used a thunderstorm to obliterate an armada.
Post-cataclysm, Thrall hasn't really done anything combat related except on Twilight of the Aspects where he dueled blackmoore WITHOUT using his shamanism at all. The rest of the book he spent more time as a diplomat and a liaison than an actual fighter
