Why is the Night Elven language called Darnassian when Darnassus was created long after they were speaking it? Possibly the city was named after the language?
Also, what does Draenosh mean? The first part is Exile, but what is 'osh' and why is he named so?

IC_Saurfang_EndHor02 - We named him Draenosh. It means "Heart of Draenor" in Orcish. I would not let the warlocks take him. My boy would be safe, hidden away by the elders of Garadar.
IC_Saurfang_EndHor03 - I made a promise to his mother before she died, that I would cross the Dark Portal alone. Whether I lived or died, my son would be safe, untainted.
IC_Saurfang_EndHor04 - Today, I fulfil that promise.
IC_Saurfang_EndHor05 - (Sigh) You will have a proper ceremony in Nagrand. Next to the pyres of your mother and ancestores. There you go Sept, Heart of Draenor heh.
As for the Night Elf thing... it's blizzard, they probably just picked it as Darnassian to go with Thrassian.

So, Orcish and Draenei have overlaps? Similar to the Elven dialects?
Post by
Adamsm
I don't think it was meant to overlap, I think Saurfang named his kid "Heart of the Planet" heh. As in, the child was the center of his world..... kinda of a sappy for the Cleave Lord.
Here Sept, off the Draenor wiki:
Having at last outrun the bloodthirsty forces of the Burning Legion, the draenei settled the planet and named it "Exile's Refuge" in Eredun: "Draenor". The orcs did not have a name for the place, other than "world",RotH 57 but eventually adopted the Eredun term. So, it's just what I said up there heh.
Kinda of freaky the name of the planet is in demon speak, but there you go.
And on this note, I'm off.

So
technically
speaking, Draenosh means "Heart of Exile" or "Heart of Exile's Refuge"

If you combined the two languages, yes. But, as they are distinctly seperate, it still means, quite plainly, "Heart of Draenor."
I'm sure Garrosh will turn out to be something like this, but then who would cause the inner faction conflict?
I have to agree. Despite that fact that Hellscream was a bloodthirsty maniac, he was still a nobel warrior. I think that, in time, Garrosh will come to embrace his parentage's better half.

well, I've been doing some reflection:
maybe (just maybe) the inminent conflict on cataclysm isn't because varian and garrosh are rage-aholics.
just as varian proved he can be reasoned with sometimes, garrosh will prove that he can be reasoned with too.
and the whole "all out war" on cataclysm is sparked by something diferent.
we still know jack about what's gonna happen in specific, we only know that generally speaking, deathwing rises up, and causes the apocalypse (the twillight hammer must be havving one heck of a party)
but after that post-apocaliptic azeroth, maybe something new happens to the alliance that ignites their hostility to the horde and something happens to the horde that ignites their hostility to the alliance.
we just don't know the specific details, and on a plot, details are everything.
we can't just get a "human kills orc" or "orc kills human" bluntly like that, it's in the details behind those killings that we understand the plot.
blizz better not disapoint on their whole plan for cataclysm, though I'm particulary angry at them for what they are doing to my horde, they better make it up to us somehow.
they are strenghtening the allliance, and making the horde fall apart........... that aint fair.

I think it would be rather interesting if the Worgen ended up being a dark race.
Think about what it would be like if, say, the
Worgen
were the ones who sparked the conflict with the Forsaken? ;)
Genn was a supporter of just wiping out the orcs after the Second War, and he was a staunch enough supporter to withdraw from the Alliance when it didn't happen.
What if the Worgen, say, slaughtered an entire village of orcs?
It would give Garrosh a good reason to go to war, it would unite the Horde in the same way the Alliance was united.
It wouldn't make the Alliance the bad guys, of course, because the Horde still razes Ashenvale, did the Broken Front and all that.
But I think it would give the Horde a real backing for the war, rather than the old orcish "because war is awesome" argument.

Well, maybe the worgen "becoming monstors" has made Genn a more... feeling character. When I read over the transription of what players hear him say when they first log in (from Blizzcon) I got that impression of him. I'll post it if I find it.
EDIT: Here it is:
Krennan Aranas says: I'm not giving up on you, <player>. I don't have a cure for the Curse yet... but there are treatments. You'll have control again.
Lord Godfrey says: Give it up, Krennan. It's time to put this one down. It's protocol.
King Genn Greymane says: Tell me, Godfrey. Those that stayed in Gilneas City so that we could live. Were they following protocol?
King Genn Greymane says: I didn't think so. Now hand me that potion, Krennan... and double the dosage.

I'm not sure what Garrosh can do at this point to redeem himself; I think he crossed the moral event horizon when he said he thinks slaughtering your enemies children is okay.
