Most of the population of Gilneas fled with the Night elves to Darnassus (from there Genn Greymane and others moved to Stormwind in order to re-contact the kingdom of Varian Wrynn). Some Gilneans stayed at their former kingdom to drive out the invading horde forces and, some day, re-populate the land of Gilneas. Right now, it is not the best place to live as it had become a battlefield.

After playing through the forsaken quests you are basically pushed back to the wall of Gilneas by the combined Worgen and Alliance forrces. However, in the Worgen starting quests you flee Gilneas as the Horde approaches. So can someone please explain to me the current state of Gilneas, both as a whole country and their capital city.
chronologically, the events on the worgen starting area happened first, and the forsaken quests in gilneas happen later. (Evidenced by how godfrey was alive on the worgen starting zone, dies on it, and is later found dead and rezzed in the forsaken quests)
in order:
1: gilneans lose their kingdom to the worgens, fleeing to duskhaven (the very VERY few humans left)
2: Gilneas is invaded by the forsaken, gilneans fight and briefly reclaim the capital, but are forced to flee en masse after being overwhelmed by the major bulk of forsaken forces.
3: Worgen-gilneans return to their land with the help of 7th legion reinforcements to reclaim gilneas.
4: Worgens start to push into silverpine (really stupid move IMO, they should had stayed in their land to reinforce it, by losing so many troops in silverpine, they eventually lose the real solid grip they gained in gilneas)
5: inside Gilneas, the alliance manages to push the forsaken out of the peninsula completely.
6: On Silverpine, the forsaken army, backed up by orc corsairs, and recently-risen ambermill mages, manage to push back the worgens completely out of silverpine, and into gilneas.
7: (Current situation) Forsakens, seizing the advantage caused by the worgen retreat and the split of their forces (the bloodpack worgen withdraws their support to the GLF (Gilnean Liberation Front) in order to hunt forsakens in hillsbrad) Forsakens re-push inside of the peninsula and clashed with the combined 7th legion+GLF joint forces inside.
as of Today: the entire peninsula is deemed unsafe for civilian lives, as the forsaken army, along with the orcish corsairs are fighting the 7th legion and the GLF forces. (this battle is played out in the battleground "Battle for Gilneas")
it's a statlemate (is that the right spelling?) with no side gaining a clear-cut advantage over the other.
as for the capital city, the 7th legion holds 1 side (Cathedral side) and the forsakens hold the prison. The other 2 sectors are "no man's land". And since there is a major war across the peninsula, no civilians are living there, and are unlikely to live there in MANY years to come if AV is any indication.

As Nord is still 'alive' the idea of the Night Elf immortality being gone is shot heh. But I don't think there would be, as it just means the blessings on the Trees would still help the Elves in their over all life.

Guess this is the right place for this.
I was thinking about the Night Elves and their two world trees? Since Teldrassil is blessed by two of the aspects now and Nordrassil is regrowing, could there possibly be a side effect from having two active world trees, for the world or for the Night Elves themselves?Could be, but we really don't have any idea at this point. It's important to note that Teldrassil's blessing did not restore the Night Elves' immortality.

Meh, (and I will get killed for this) I liked Deadly Premonition better.Silent Hill 2 was one of the best games ever made, broham.
And I love that quote. Blizzard could have done any ol' regular 404 page, but they went all out with the awesome obscure reference.

Never played it =PYou should. Or at least watch the Let's Play, if you don't have the means to play it firsthand. Yahtzee Croshaw actually gave a positive review of it.

I always preferred Parasite Eve and Resident Evil over Silent Hill heh.

Meh. It doesn't look like the kind of game I like. Maybe I'll have a go one of these years when I run out of other games =P

I always preferred Parasite Eve and Resident Evil over Silent Hill heh.Buh, haven't heard of the first, and the second relied far too much on the "pop out and scare you boogah boogah boogah" type of horror than the deep-rooted psychological horror of Silent Hill. At least Silent Hill 2.

Heh, different strokes for different folks. And you should look up Parasite Eve, both of the games are f-ed up; first one

...Triple post but as no one else has put anything:
So finished both the Worgen and Goblin starting zones today, and loved them both, for different reasons.
The Worgens line was excellent for showing the war against both the Feral and the Undead/Horde, and seeing the death of Liam in game...heh, more reasons to dislike the Dark Lady and Godfrey. The last quest, Endgame, and taking down a Hammer was epic.
The Goblin line was good, and I liked the fact that your character was the 'hero' of it all heh; the one who was standing up to the Trade Prince trying to keep the gobs alive in the new lands, while Gallywix sat on his arse or tried to enslave everyone again. The finale there....wasn't as epic as the Worgs, but was still good, though I liked that the boat had all of your 'friends' on it, cheering for you as they headed to start their new lives.
And the slap stick of the cinematic was amusing.

So, is Thrall's re-installing Gallywix as the leader justified by anything? At all?
