I definitely recommend this quest.
Seriously.....Blizzard hates us heh.
already did :P check the comments section of that very same quest xD
first comment is mine, with a transcript of the full dialog of that quest.
that quest, despite it's lower lvl is a hard contender for "quest of the year" and may as well be the best damn quest in the entire game. xD how many other MMO's can you name that allow YOU to be the questgiver?

I fail to see how that connects to lore.
As you like to say, this isn't L&RP's recycle bin.

getting intresting to quest in the old world.
aparently tauren's fears that garrosh will become a fel orc are completely unfounded. As
this
quest proves.
to get some background rolling (SPOILER ALERT!) an orc woman in splintertree has a snappy idea, see, Nightelves are raiding splintertree outpost, and no backup is likely to arrive, so she thinks desperate times call for desperate measures.
she hands you over a canister, and have you recolect fel fire from the demon outpost in ashenvale, she then delivers this to an orc warlock inside the mines on splintertree. This warlock crafts for you a special demon marker, and turns you into an imp.
as an imp (so that nobody recognizes you) you use the demon marker so that the female orc (name's draaka BTW :P blizz is running out of female orc names xD) can shoot fel fire boulders with her catapult. The plan works, and the siege is ended, but at what price? orcs have now used fel tools once again, after swearing to never again do so.
Draaka writes an apology letter and sends it to garrosh in the hopes that he will condone the use of fel magic considering how effective it was. Garrosh's answer is a rotund
NO
. Stating that regardless of their effectiveness, reliance on fel magic will only lead the orcish race to become enslaved once again. He suspects that draaka was manipulated by someone else into using the fel fire, sends you off to bring the head of that someone, or else both YOU and draaka get executed.
upon returning to the warlock in the mines and asking him what to do now, he only says....
"Hellscream is involved? (sighs) I had hoped I wound't have to reveal my true form so soon. Very well <name> you've outlived your usefullness" and then he transforms into a doomguard.
once you return his head to garrosh (as it seems he did manipulated draaka, and planted the seed of greed in her mind) garrosh very violently warns you that if you EVER dabble with fel magic, he will have you executed.
this is funny because if you make this quest with lvl 80 warlock in metamorphosis, you can give the head to garrosh while transformed into a winged archdemon and garrosh still says "don't dabble with demons again" xD
also adamsm, regardless of what use you give to that shovel quest-reward the actual quest is one of the first "heroic" forsaken quests I've seen. Since the objective is to release the human prisoners in the sludge fields.

erm, no.
I did the quest and as I recall DURING the quest you can only dig them out. AFTER the quest you get the "other" shovel and can bash their heads, or just destroy the shovel and have nothing to do with it.
Edit: aparently after checking in, this may be the first quest ever where you have a choise in how to complete it.
you can either bash their heads, or release them from the ground. Either option will give credit and complete the quest.
how very intresting.

Heh, did about 8 dig ups and 7 bashings....what? Then I ran around and bashed a few more lol.

how mean =( the horde has already enough demons without this quest, so I just released them all. Also, their shocked expressions of surprise were amusing to say the least.

Lol, Adams's an arsehole. Maybe it was just because I was playing in character, but I didn't bash any other them... :P
Also, after playing through Darkshore, Ashenvale, Stonetalon, and the Southern Barrens on my mage, and seeing how bad the Horde was there, it felt really good to hear humans saying things like "Maybe... you're not all bad..." and "I won't forget this, undead!" (or something to that effect) made me feel really good.

Again, I liked the 'buff' and it was an actual buff, instead of a Debuff like most of those things. I was also on my Troll Hunter doing those quests, so being completely crazy is required.

well, it seems the alliance does has their share of dark quests.
Just finished
this
quest.
Silvermoon was sending a civilian diplomat to orgrimmar, and the night elves sent an assassin to kill her in cold blood.
she died, and the quest consists on finding the assassin and killing her. Also the
follow up
is about fullfilling her last wish by delivering her letter to ogrimmar.
is not much, but at least is something.

I dug up about three to see if they did anthing interesting.... after that I based the rests skulls in. Had my hunter been able to use maces I would have stayed around longer and used the shovel you get as a reward to bash a few more.
I'm actually glad to see that Blizzard is giving us a little more choice in our quests.

I mean, I'm pretty goddamned messed up in the head, and even I found it distasteful to bash them in the head.

The kindest man out there may very well rp a homicidal maniac with no traces of humanity, and vice versa. Taking on the mask is always interesting, IMO.

Why? Beause it's fun!
Every game I've ever played where I had a choice in a matter, I've almost always picked the "dark" choice first. To me, the dark choice is typically more intertaining. Also I fear that I'm a homocidal maniac at heart...
Besides, I was playing on my undead hunter (Vrem) at the time. It just seemed like a disservice to the RP character he's based off of to let all of them live.

Every time I encounter Vrem in the fRPG here, there's a helluva trouble. So, no surprise there.

And this is coming from the guy that would randomly stab girls to death in Fallout 3 and then cut their head and limbs off.

Edit: Also, I'm loving Kingslayer Orkus (shame what happens to him).
Kingslayer Orkus says: "
Did I ever tell you about the time I met Varok Saurfang? I asked him to sign my massive pectoral muscles. He backhanded me instead, which is why I sometimes forget things now. It was totally worth it.
