Seriously.. so many movie references in Operation Gnomeragon......
IT'S A TRAP!
WoW is just one big reference. Honestly, this is why I say I write WoW fanfics rather than Warcraft fanfics. Because I'm just as silly.
Yeah, but the Speeches part; the first one is Braveheart, the next is the Fugitive and the last is from Independence Day, and the 'It's a trap! It's a fully functional *insert name of the bomb here*!"(can't remember, and Lothar is down so can't check heh); just made me sigh.
speaking about the speeches, doesn't anybody finds it odd that after we try to iron out the best speech posible, Gelbin gives none?
during the whole event he says several orders like "shoot this" and "kill that" "take down those shields" ect, but no speeches.
then what was all the fuss about the speeches to boost morale?
also, CHEAP SHOT at blizzard for not letting lowerlvl players to at least see the event =( I only have 1 alliance 80, and I wanted to see operation gnomergan on my other low lvl alt T_T
ditto for zalazane's fall, I got 2 horde 80's and I wanted to see that event on all my horde toons.

Perhapes the old idea of the vrykul, which stated that they were a vamparic race of giants.

Yeah, looks like a Vrykul to me... Some shaman/druid or necromancer type maybe. Then again there are always concept art creatures that get scrapped - several of the Cata ones aren't anywhere to be seen so far, (some sea witch thing, spiny raptor etc) and the first Pokémon-like Volcanoth got scrapped for a "regular" lava turtle.

Well, not saying they're scrapped for sure but seeing as Vashj'ir is pretty much finished (don't go "it's just beta" on me on this one...) I'm not sure where they'd fit in. Might appear in Gilneas if they decide to change that zone now that the BG isn't in the actual city anymore, or maybe even in the Abyssal Maw raid they're most likely releasing later on.

The only Sea Witch I know of is the one at Echo Isles and she uses Lady Vashj's model.

That Sea Hag desctiption (part about their bodies) reminds me of Kvaldir... Maybe they were the starting point for the Sea Vrykul?

Was a typo. I was refering to the sea hag (harridan) concept art. Was supposed to be some Gilnean Kvaldir-like creatures.

I think the harridan concept art is newer than the Kvaldir but I'm not sure. Although they could use the concept for female Sea Vykrul later on (if we ever see them again).

There
were
Kvaldir in Vashj'ir, but they're (pretty much) extinct when the player gets there. There is a flashback-style chain where you get to see what happened to them and there's also a quest which involves killing the remaining few.
