I know, but wasn't
that
for lore affecting short stories only, I meant a thread for all kinds of stories.
Heh, you could post any type of story you wanted in there; some people changed lore, others created new things.

Okay....a question that i had never really thought of came to my mind today. Why do most paladins use maces? Why did they choose that over other weapons?
Mostly because it's an iconic paladin weapon in Warcraft, which I suspect was to differentiate them from the DnD paladins who's iconic weapon is the Holy Avenger (sword). There's also the parallel with a gavel as a symbol of justice.
this but there is also another reason.
Hammers in general are a double-standard weapon, because blades are meant to kill, you strike at someone with a sword and you WILL kill, or cut, mangle, maim, rend, slash, bleed, ect ect.
Hammers on the other hand, are weapons that are as effective at killing than as non-lethal force, paladins are after all like the "cops" of the alliance, their mission as holy knights is to protect life, not take it, and so they have Hammers wich with enough force can kill a man, but when used with lesser force can simply cause bruises or incapacitate the enemy.
Paladins are after all justice bringers, their spell "hammer of justice" does presicely that, incapacitate the enemy. That's the dual nature of the paladin weapon, wound and incapacitate when necesary, but also kill when all other options are spent.
paladins DO use other weapons (arthas was a famous swordsman, and tirion who for years used a mace is now the new Ashbringer (much to my dismay U_U I want darion to be the next one) and even Turalyion used a sword too) but their iconic weapon is their mace, as much as a lightsaber is the iconic weapon of a jedi.
it's meant to be a symbol :P

Turalyon really only used the sword after Lothar died, and only then for a bit.

This is pretty much a nooby question, without any hate, could anyone tell me if there could be / are any islands east of eastern kingdoms / west of Kalimdor? (excluding bloodmyst and azuremyst isle and Teldrassil)
there's plenty of islands isolated from the main continent
Kezan is one, the lost island is another one, so is Kul tiras, Pandaria, Zandalar, that island with the weird undead freak that Rhonin and Krasus briefly visit on the start of the book "war of the ancients", and light-knows how many more uncharted lands lie in the great sea.
after all, the maelstrom makes sea-exploration a dangerous business, so the great sea hasn't been completely charted.

couple of questions.
A: where did you managed to download them?
B: aren't u suposed to do that anyways without any DLC needed? ( I wound't know :P since I didn't had any romance on ME2 to be faithfull to the one from ME1)

And while I was able to do the whole sex scene with Tali before the suicide mission, it has previously ended with that. I could go down and talk to Tali in the Engine room, but the DLC added an intercom that let me call her up to my room, with her sitting on the couch, and two empty wine glasses on the table. You can snuggle on the couch or in the bed,
like so
.
I almost fell out of my chair from sheer joy when I found out.

at some point u're gonna have to gimme a link for those :P I've never played any of the DLC's of ME2 (though I'm DIEING to get the upcoming one "Lair of the shadow broker")
also, I've decided to completely start again from zero on ME, and I mean the whole thing, even the expanded universe.
as far as lore goes, ME doesn't have as many books or comics as warcraft, but it does have a rather reasonable amount. The list goes in this order:
1)Mass Effect
Evolution
(this one will be released in january 2011, it's a 4-issue comic book that deals with the origins of the Illusive man, who aparently was 10 times more badass than shepard, just look at
this
and tell me it's not badass xD, it is set during the first contact war)
2)Mass Effect
Revelation
(this one is a book, it has 2 protagonists, David Anderson, and Saren, it is a dual story, as it shows how saren was corrupted and became the villian he is in the game, and also shows David's origins in the alliance military, as well as how he almost became the first human spectre)
3)Mass Effect 1 (videogame :P don't think I need to explain this one)
4)Mass Effect
Ascencion
: Book. Sequel of the videogame, I have no idea what this one is about. (it involves quarians, lots of them)
5)Mass Effect
Incursion
: Small mini-comic (just 8 pages long) it takes place 1 week before shepard's death during the prologe of ME2, it's protagonist is none other than Aria T'loak, the badass asari warlord.
7)Mass Effect
Redemption
: 4-issue comic book, Liara is the protagonist, it shows the story on how she recovered shepard's body from the shadow broker and gave it to cerberus, it takes place after the prologe of ME2, but before Shepard is revived in the lazarus project.
8)Mass Effect 2: Video-game and the biggest concentration of WIN since Metal Gear Solid.
9)Mass Effect
Retribution
: book. Set after ME2, have no idea what this one is about.
10) Mass Effect 3: not yet released, and will have to wait 2 long LONG years before we get to play this memorable conclution to the BEST space-opera ever known. (yes people, this replaced Star Wars as the finest space sci-fi for me xD)
I've already obtained the 3 books, and the 2 comic books (will have to wait for the third comic, as that one is not yet released) so I'm gonna read the books and play the game in order to relive the whole damn plot from begining to end.

alright i have a question: I was reading an article about Ex paladins on wowwiki and i was scrolling down and i saw a red link that mentioned dark paladins? What is a dark paladin like anyone know?

Probably the same as a dark knight, although there's no source on a dark paladin, therefore nothing backing up its existance, so they might not even exist in WC.

a dark paladin, is a paladin that uses his or her powers for an unholy purpose, they are evil, ruthless and completely merciless.
the blood knights (prior to their redemption) used to be dark paladins.
Coming Cataclysm u're gonna see lots of dark paladins in the Twillight hammer (they do have all the races of azeroth and all the classes too) particulary in the twillight highlands, were they are named "Twilight paladins" (will link a screenshot soon)

And then it's 3 years between Wrath and Cata apparently, as an NPC in Hyjal makes reference to the Battle taking place 10 years earlier.

That makes a bit of sense. Though shouldn't it have taken a bit...longer?

Not really heh; The Battle for Mount Hyjal/Frozen Throne, 4 years to the start of WoW, and each expansion has only been a year lore time, so 3 makes sense.
