8 minutes writting this... sigh. This post is all @rankHeh, don't worry about it Delt.
Note, the forced turning is in the RP books.
The same books which have "questionable" lore elements and who's contents can be discarded at will by Blizzard.
Honestly, I find that part's a bit disrespectful of the guys who compiled all of this for the RPG books, but they have said so in the past (blue post, IIRC).
It's been well established within WoW that the BEs are &*!@#$bags, so it does fit their MO.
Eh that's the one that sticks around; the BE's only become 'good'... or at least, the standard Azeroth ones did after the BC started up, and they joined up with the Horde. Till that point, during those 5 years from the end of the Throne to the start of BC the BE's one and all were considered either pure evil, or chaotic good at best... and even then, they had major problems with their magic addictions. Of course, the Night Elves treated both of the light skinned elves the same as well; if they were anywhere near the Moonwells, they were attacked and depending on what they were doing, killed. So much racism among what's roughly the same race heh.

Aye, I was mainly talking about the Blood Elves who went across the sea hunting the Theramore/Kalimdor High Elves, wanting to continue to swell the ranks of the Elf race... too bad they went about it wrong. And after the Portal reopened and Kael and his forces returned, the High Elves realized just what they had escaped from. Those who were in the Hinterlands though, had their close allies the Wildhammers still around and helping them.

Now there's something I didn't know or recall... did they go there specifically to hunt High Elves or just with the Horde and hoping to kill a High Elf or two along the way?
This was before they joined the Horde, when Blood Elves were seen the same as the Naga; either pure outright evil or chaotic 'good'(even then, they still fed on anything with magic, and had fun torturing). They went hunting to keep swelling the ranks of the Blood Elves with more and more of their kind, to turn them into a force to fight back against whatever threat Kael would return to lead them against.... the fact that he becomes said threat....
Remember the original plan of Kael:
1. Give the Naaru from the Keep to his people to keep them fed and 'happy'.
2. Drain all the magic from the Netherstorm to repower the Keep and make it possible to take all the Outland Blood Elves back to Azeroth, without needing to use the Dark Portal and fight the factions.
3. Once Netherstorm was drained, and the transdimensional engines were activated, they should destroy Netherstorm... which in turn would destroy Outland itself, killing Vashj and Illidan and making Kael a hero.
4. Return home, and feed his people for all time with the power of the Netherstorm.
Yes he failed, and yes he ended up as Demon tainted... except even then, he was plotting to transform the entire Legion into yet another Battery for the Elves to eat. Had the plan worked, the Blood Elves would have been the most populace race on Azeroth... and probably would have tried to conqueror the world heh.

Honestly, with that much power backing him, Azeroth would have had a hard time against him.
Heh aye, all the 'It was all a setback!' jokes aside, Kael was a well written villain who just happened to get overshadowed by Emo-King and the Lich King; Blizzard really should have put more focus onto him over the course of the BC expansion.... but then he probably would have turned into a cardboard villain like the Lich King over the course of Wrath.

Moira would be another candidate for female leader.
o_O the concubine of a demented dark iron emperor? the same dark irons who summoned ragnaros, and are just as insane as the twillight hammer? are you serious?
Note that leader =/= good leader.

Taken during a half-transformation into Storm-crow form?

It is not a photograph but a datamined model. So I think that is his permanent model, but I don't know.

I mean, it might be an image of him that appear during a quest, where he is half-way through the transformation or the like.
