I thought Lunar Festival was meant to honour the defeat of the Legion at Hyjal?
na, if you look at it closely, some of the dwarven elders are earthen (lore-wise all dwarves were earthen back then, but the earthen models weren't added till WOTLK came out :P)
plus, one of the elders is called Bronzebeard, and one is called Grimtotem.
these were the original founders of the grimtotem and bronzebeard clans, the first of their kind so to speak.
on hyjal there weren't any earthen, at all, so it makes sence that the lunar festival honors those who participated in the original legion war.
Then why do you honour an elder at Orgrimmar? Or any of the Horde cities that have only sprung up in the last 7-8 years? Or any human locations either; as there was only one human in the War of the Ancients heh.
Nvm, ignore me heh... just checked wowwiki.... yeah, but it still makes no sense why you would go to Human/orc cities for honouring an ancient win....

One human? You mean one human faction?

In the War of the Ancients, there was one Human: Rhonin Red-Haired. The descendants of the Vyrkul never fought with them... or at least they weren't mentioned in War of the Ancients.

to pay respect bro', they may be in enemy territory, but these people are still heroes who saved the world, we own our existance to them, and this is the only time per year were we can express our gratitude, to tell them "thank you, for fighting to secure our freedom"
as to why each of them spawn on enemy cities?
well, there are several explanations:
All of these ancients have decendants, and they wanna be near those who share their blood (such as the grimtotem elder spawning near the largest grimtotem camp wich is in feralas (darkcloud pinnacle would had made more sence) or elder bronzebeard who spawned in ironforge to be near his flesh and blood)
they simply have no reason to spawn were they do, they simply manifest themselves in the world and that's the end of it
or blizzard simply put them in dificult places to make the achievement something more challenging.
I'm sticking with reason 1 xD-.

Whoops I saw "Battle at mount Hyjal" for some odd reason... must have been the Vrykul that made me think that.

A good flaming can do a world of good. You and I are both examples of that.

You're forgetting one orc.

The Night Elves seemed to have forgotten Brox as well... even though there's a statue of him somewhere in Night Elf lands so go figure.

you know what puzzles me more addams? cenarius knew broxigar, he saw his honor, gave him a mighty weapon, but when he encounters orcs again on war3 he says that all of them are demon-spawn minions that have no honor or chance of redemption................
for one who worked with broxigar, he should had been at least a bit surprised to see orcs acting like grom, and at the very least try to parlay with them before deciding to fight back.
I don't blame cenarius for fighting grom, or the warsong, but it seems odd that he says all of them are demon-spawn when he already met one heck of a good orc.
I didn't knew demi-gods could forget xD.

Or it was required for him to react in that way; we don't see things the same way a Demi-God does after all heh.

Well, looking at their leader it seems their the ones getting messed with... (I know Nozdormu is not confirmed as leader of the infinites, but I would be very disappointed if he was not.)

Indeed face, somewhere I recall reading nozdormu apologizing to krasus for something he will do in the future.
also, many bronze dragons have hinted that the infinites are related to them somehow.
just as this expac dwelved in the fate of the blue dragons, Stormrage's book dwelved into the fate of the green dragons, I'm hoping cata will also shed some light to what happened to the bronze dragons.
because so far, the spotlight has allways been in the black dragons and the red ones.
the other flights get little to no love at all.

God, the death of Malygos was
the
most underplayed raid of all time. Holy crap, two worms were more hyped than him! It's sad really. I'm not one of those people that moans for the old days, but my real problem with WoTLK is that they #$%^ed up with the timeline and raids.

Kinda like in the quest in Dragonblight, where you are supposed to bring out the leader of the infinite flight and Nozdormu appears instead.
Edit: And yeah I agree with Face. Malygos was epic, but they needed another raid...

On the topic of Broxigar and Cenarius; a few thousand years is a lot to go by. And Norzdomu himself states to Krasus at some point in the series that "all other paths have been destroyed." Or something to that effect.
This could mean that the mission we play in WC3 changes because Krasus, Rhonin, and Brox were sucked back in the timestream later in that said timeline, which then altered it slightly.
But that's just a thought.

you sir are a genius :D /salutes
I never tought of that posibility, everything we see and do on warcraft 3, is before krasus+brox+roninsue's travel to the past.
it would had been cool to see a revamped version of warcraft 3 that shows the new timeline after the significant changes made in the past by these 3 people.
and the reason malygos was so quickly forgotten was because he added an unfamiliar concept that people have a hard time adapting to..........
vehicles, everyone loves to fight using the class they know and love, but when they have to fight on vehicles with complex skills, in a flight enviroment where there's no floor or roof, using skills unfamiliar with, people get exasperated.
this is why occ is so unpopular regardless of the fact that it yields 8 emblems and a chance for a cool mount and free gems, because people (particulary the bad players) have a problem adaptig to using drakes to fight.
same goes for malygos, if his fight was similar to sarth, even today people would attempt to kill him, but since it demands a coordinated use of vehicles..........
also the fact that it requires a key to even starting the fight doesn't help.
in my realm NOBODY kills malygos unless he's the weekly boss, and even then 8 out of 10 groups are fails who wipe 6 secs after phase 3 starts :S
they learned their lesson though.
in Ulduar there are vehicles in the FL fight, but they have only a few skills, and multiple passengers to make the whole controll process easier, if 1 player had to be both gunner and driver of a catapult or demolisher, only a few groups would ever defeat FL.
same for ICC; the gunship cannons have only 2 skills, easy to use, just spam 1 till heat bar is at 90 then press 2, rince & Repeat.
