In regards to the forums themselves, I was reporting spammers, advertisers and trolls before the rep went in. I still vote on comments even though I get no rep now a days. I upload data from the client pretty much after every single play time.
So, think what you want Interest; but I care about the site as much as you do.

Tons of people reported those things but there were lots of users who reported only one of them (presumably whichever they happened to see) so it was impossible for me to do anything

accept all reports from everyone. O.o

Because driving people away with your (lack of) tolerance, especially towards "dumb questions", is a good way to exhibit that. In addition, your general attitude hardly fits an upstanding user. Thus, I find your resolve difficult to believe.

the Warlock forum I used to give people a hard time for asking silly questions or for not trying to use the resources available before asking for others to help. I can't remember what it was that made me realise that it wasn't a good way to handle things but I made a concerted effort to simply help everyone whether they could have found the answer themselves or not. I felt better about my interactions and I hope I helped make the Warlock forum a more inviting and helpful place overall.
I think that every awesome, knowledgeable, helpful forum member that exists was once a total noob who asked something stupid. The reaction that newbie receives can affect how they view the forum and whether they stick around long enough to become awesome and helpful themselves.
