It has been confirmed by beta testers on the warcraft pally forums that DP does NOT drop aggro. Thus making it an actual "oh crap" buttom for tankadins. Finally! :D
Don't forget that, for now at least, DP is ALSO affected by Divine Guardian! O.o So you're friends will also get a damage reduction too when you pop DP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait...
Divine Protection reduces damage by 50%.
Divine Guardian reduces damage to your raid by 30%.
Hand of Sacrifice transfers 30% of the damage from the target to the caster.
Wouldn't that mean that you could combine all these so that your tank was getting nearly 80% damage reduction
at no cost to the Paladin casting Hand of Sacrifice?
That said, I would almost BET that they'll change it so that Divine Protection on longer procs Divine Guardian...

no, they show us nice things to hook us in, upsetting us by nerfing/removing them is just a by product :P
