Dilemma with gear. Please help if can

Hi all.

My current build is 15/51/5 combat fist/swords.

I've read all the stickies from here and elitist jerks. With my current gear, i've hit the poison cap and the expertise cap.

But with the expertise cap, I needed to gem a lot of "Precise Scarlet Ruby" to achieve the goal (almost all my gear is gemmed expertise besides 2 slots in "Sharp-Barbed Leather Belt" which is gemmed AGI ).

I am currently Wearing 4/5 Tier 7.5 gear. I am missing the helm.

Just this week, I picked up "Chestguard of the Recluse"

Now my question is this...

Would it be wiser for me to ditch my "Valorous Bonescythe Breastplate" for "Chestguard of the Recluse" because of the massive expertise rating (then I could gem my gear with more substantial ones such as AP) and in turn, sacrifice the 4 piece bonus of Bonescythe or would I lose more DPS overall because I don't have the 4 piece bonus?

I ran my items over Vulajin's spreadsheet but it doesn't seem to count in expertise rating so it's saying that i'm losing dps overall.

Any thoughts, help and output is much appreciated! Thanks!

Spreadsheet?

I've had the same dilemma, although I've had the 10man version of t7 chest, and the spreadsheet showed breaking the 4-piece set bonus and using recluse a dps increase.

Yeah this would be true if he didn't gem for expertise cap....using the recluse will set him wayyyy over the cap...

Okay. Regem then. It's not that hard. I've also had to do it when I picked up recluse.

EDIT: What the hell, he's combat specc'd. What's with going for the expertise cap as combat? o.0

Combat isn't as reliant on expertise as mut is though, shouldn't even need to gem for expertise besides maybe one precise scarlet ruby to get above 20/20. Your finishing moves can't be dodged as combat so all you have to worry about is a parry...which wouldn't #$%^ you up as much as a mut. Having envenom or evis be parried as combat isn't nearly as devastating then as mut.

Wow OK you guys have made things very clear for me.

Thanks a lot for your inputs.

Only reason why I ever gemmed my gear to expertise cap was coz i've been camping the WWS sites to see how much damage the top DPS combat rogues did and a lot of them, if not all, had their expertise capped to 26.

I'm going to put on the recluse chest and regem all my gear to AP now. Have naxx25 tonight, so this will be a great chance to see how my DPS.
