TL;DR: stacking haste is about 40% more effective than stacking crit, assuming you aren't stacking haste fanatically (ignoring crit at all) due to semi-diminishing returns.
I won't argue for one over the other at end game at this time especially since the weighting will be changing when 3.1 comes out. But at this time for this individual crit is what he will want to stack if possible. He should not ignore haste by any means but he will be seeing much larger returns from crit at this time.
When I am taking gear upgrades, I never know which to pick. I am getting close to 25 Badges of Valor and dont know if I should take the + crit or the + haste. Crit obviously means more spikes but haste could be more damage over time. Any thoughts?
You can look at my gear on wowarmory. I only specced into boomkin 2 weeks ago from feral, so these stats are kinda a new ballgame to me. Haste vs Crit is a touchy subject and due quite a bit of debate. For you right now look for crit. But kee in mind this priority list:
Hit(to cap) > Spell Power > Crit/Haste > Int > Spirit/Mp5
Haste and Crit are placed together to show that you'll not want to favor one of the other by to much. Though for the most part you will be leaning more towards crit in the early stages.
