I'm just wondering, since Vista/My Computer sucks at downloading patches via the lame World of Warcraft Downloader, is there a mirror site I could download this from? (the 555 MB file)

pre download, you are not meant to finish the download yet, and it is ok not to download it now, because once it goes live, you can download it at a normal speed

The thing is, I don't think that the patch is full up and ready to download yet. I think people are having problems downloading it because its actually not fully prepared and I heard that you can only get to somewhere
around 30% or so
, then the downloader dissapears. For me, mine won't even start just stuck at 515 kb's atm and it won't go any higher. Guess im just going to have to wait...
I'm at 80% right now.

You are at 80% of the first part of the 3.1 patch. More stuff will be added later. They are just letting people predownload part of the data so there won't be such a huge rush on patch day for everyone to download one huge patch in one go at the same time. Much better that people download half now and half later.

Not to sound like a broken record, but please keep in mind that even if you downloaded 100% of the data that is available now, you have not downloaded the complete 3.1 patch. This is just the first (large) piece of it. More will be added later.

Yes, there are places to download this "prepatch", I suggest checking wowwiki's list

The specific mirror you pick doesn't matter, but do choose the right region.

Yes, you can download the entire 555mb they're offering right now.
No, it will not mess up your WoW file.
No, you cannot even install the file you'll be downloading.
Its purpose is so that, on the actual patch day, you've already downloaded all the bulk of the patch (Ulduar data, etc) and that the smaller patch you download on that special Tuesday will just be minor changes to the data. You can be back to playing within 10 minutes instead of within 3 hours (Y'know, assuming we don't get any ugly EXTENDED MAINTENANCE, etc).

It took me a long time to download the pre download thing and got it completed but why does it still say i need to download when i already did but the blizz down loader doesn't come up anymore its like it says it wants to download more but it cant lol
