Antharios followed after Cassidy, careful to keep away from the prints, lest he obscure them. "Hopefully they're working alone. I'd rather not go up against an organization here."

"I shudder to think what kind of organization might resort to kill lowlifes in broad daylight of the caverns to further their needs, blondie. On the other hand, it's been a while since we've heard of crazed cultists worshiping some ungodly monstrosity, hasn't it?" Cassidy laughed hoarsely, and puffed out a ring of smoke before proceeding.

"Exactly. What if we're dealing with some vestigial death knights?" Antharios asked rhetorically. "They
have
to cause pain and death, or else
they
are tormented."

Tahni

Tahni listened to the two talk, smelling the air.

"A vicious circle. Although if you ask me, we could just send criminals to Acheron, or whatever their place is," Cassidy shrugged. "Everyone's happy."
((Gum, a character. Atik controls him(her?) so we kind of wait on him. And not on this plot arc alone, either))

((okay, we can just search the city, maybe go after the wrong guy or something who one of us can control while we wait))
Tahni
Ironforge
Tahni chuckled, the sound coming out as a low, grumbling growl. There were hundreds of smells here, and she was having a hard time pin pointing any smells from the scene of the crime.

Phillip
Mauradon
Phillip nodded. "Sounds good..." He stated, clapping his hands together. A ring of frosty mist sorrounded the staff; massive walls of ice raising from it. "Shatter." The mage stated, causing the ice to break into counless small lances and launch at those sorrounding it.
Phillip then created a large slide of ice, slipping down it and gripping the staff as he rode by; trying to pull it free.

From the rooftops, eyes now watched the three. Curious, they had been following... Perhaps the last kill would slow them up?
Looking up, the figure spotted the nearby hospital, where the mother and child would be. It was an older, rundown hospital. Commonly used for treating the lower class citizens of Ironforge.
Interesting...

"This ain't look good," Corvus noted when the entirety of cavern began to shudder violently the moment Phillip grabbed the staff.
"By the Void, kill him! Kill them all!" the former ambassador to the centaurs shrieked at the top of his lungs. In his drooling frenzy he failed to notice a shard of ice sticking out of his arm, or just how many of his underlings were killed where they stood. Whoever still lived was all too eager to bring down a rain of stones, spears, crossbow bolts, arrows, throwing stars, throwing daggers and malevolent destructive energy onto the intruder.
"Now that's just rude, what are they trying to do, ruin my boots?" the Darkbone Praetorian remarked, leaping down, then leaping away when one of the casters summoned a pool of viscous, glowing green substance beneath his feet. The said caster got his cranium cleaved in half by Corvus's spear.

Phillip
Maraudon
Phillip yanked hard, ripping the staff free from where it floated. He spun; ready for battle. The staff glowed brightly with shadow frost magics. He channeled his spell through the coral, taking aim at the cultists...

...and nothing happened. The head cultist threw his head back in laughter and reached forward. He stared at his empty hand in genuine surprise after an invisible hand tried to yank the staff out of Phillip's hands, instead of just teleporting the weapon to the cultist.
"It won't recognize you as it's owner! Not until the current one lives!" Corvus yelled, holding the enforcers at bay. He had gotten several scratches - and, being a nigh-immortal lich knight, ignored them as he twirled his spear around him with devastating speed.

Phillip
Maraudon
Phillip nodded, holding the staff tight. "I hear you!" He replied, rushing forward at the cultist and tackling the robed figure into the murky water sorrounding the island. He held the other under the white, milky liquid and smashed the staff downward where he thought the cultist's head was.

At some point, the cultist stopped squirming. The moment his heart contracted for the last time, several spikes sprouted out of the staff where Phillip's hand was, piercing his skin and soaking several drips of his blood before retracting back into the shaft. The weapon then began to bend, its shape changing into that of Phillip's subconscious choice.
((Yeah, you get to design it yourself. It being Phillip's weapon now and whatnot. Also, since I know nothing of his arsenal, I suggest you now have some of the cultists hurl a spell he doesn't know so that he can find out about simulacrum.
The key word is suggest, in case you don't want him to discover this utility until later))

Phillip
Maraudon
Phillip looked as the coral morphed and bent, a long blade coming out and ending in a katana-like fasion. The rings hovered around the top and bottom of the handle, floating without reason with sparks flowing between them like a handguard.
One of the cultists charged the battle mage, only to have his head cleaved off in a single swing.
Phillip smiled, gripping the sword. "Not bad..."

"Who knew?" Corvus mused, kicking an unfortunate enforcer in the stomach so hard the latter was sent flying across the cavern, getting his spine broken upon impact with the wall.
"We will not be defeated that easily!" screamed one of the cultists, grabbing one of the corpses, running up to the crystalline formation in the middle of the island, slitting his dead comrade's throat and letting the blood dew the stalagmite. Another, particularly powerful spasm shook the cave from cornerstone to dome, and the already murky water around the isle turned milky white, beginning to bubble sporadically.
"
TOO
.
SOON
!"
"Uh-oh."

A massive pincer tore the ground open right beneath the portal, the shockwave alone being strong enough to send Phillip flying across the isle. Any veteran of the War of the Shifting Sands would have readily recognized a Qiraji gladiator in a towering monstrosity that emerged, were it not for numerous crystalline formations on its coral shell.
"
PUNY MORTALS! THE RITUAL WAS NOT COMPLETED!
MONTHS
OF PREPARATION HAVE BEEN LOST TO YOUR INCOMPETENCE!
"
"B-but lieutenant!-"
The cultist never got a chance to finish, for the giant pincer tore him in half.
"
CUSTOM DEMANDS IT I INTRODUCE MYSELF TO YOU, MISERABLE URCHINS! LO AND BEHOLD, I AM LIEUTENANT KHAL'EEL! LET THAT NAME ECHO INSIDE YOUR TINY BRAIN AS YOU SQUIRM YOUR LAST SECONDS! UNENDING TORMENT AWAITS THOSE WHO OPPOSE
THEM
WHO HOLD MY LEASH!
"
"What do they feed those things?" Corvus commented irritably, piercing another enforcer's throat.

"Damn good question..." Phillip said, getting up and holding the sword high. Arcane energies flowed together into a massive flyswatter which used his new weapon as the handle. Bringing his arm down, he meant to splatter the bug before it could do anything.

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA! DID YOU REALLY THINK YOUR PRIMITIVE PARLOR TRICKS CAN HARM ONE OF THE HERALDS?
! COVER BEFORE MY IMPERVIOUS ARMOR, FOR NOTHING
BORN IN THIS WORLD CAN HARM ME!
" the overgrown bug boomed, as the flyswatter dissipated upon touching him.
"Well, crap," Corvus sighed. "And we were doing so well..."
((In case you don't want to waste your time figuring it out, I'll leave
this

"Nothing born of this world?" Phillip asked, weaving a portal. "Well, I know of a few things not from this world..." He muttered, and rift opening in the air above the beast.
Several pounds of meat dropped upon the insect. "Now we just wait..." He nodded.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?! NO MATTER, YOU WILL NOT LIVE TO SEE THIS END! SAY YOUR LAST PRAYERS, IN CASE YOUR LAUGHABLE LITTLE DEITIES DARE SHOW UP TO COLLECT YOUR SOULS!
"
Khal'eel began tearing out large - no smaller than a grown, morbidly obese human - chunks of rock to hurtle them into the duo.
