Yes i agree with Celdhydream. If your gear is crappy (blues and a few Kara epics) then Afflcition will get you most dmg for the least effort, just keep all the dots up and spam shadow bolts in the gaps. It's easy, and it's fun to see yourself at the top of the damage meter for every raid.
Destro is only going to out-perform Affliction when you get to t5 level (i.e. you are farming SSC and TK) and are +hit capped (202 +hit). From that point upwards Destro can do some truly insane DPS, and the funny part of it is you are largely just spamming a single spell (SB or immolate & incinerate) and nothing else. The weakness of this build is that it's very high threat at that level (6k SB crits.... you better have soulshatter keybound and under your finger all the time). The major challenges of the build are threat and mana. You will burn through your mana pretty fast.
As for Demon - it scales very well all the way from blues ->t6. One nice advantage is that it is very low threat. You simply will never overaggro even when going 110% all out nuke. At t5 level it can definitely do as much dmg as Destro and quite a bit more than Affliction. The major problem is this: it's not easy. You have to do everything other locks do AND take care of your pet. Having said that, if you have decent reaction speeds and like a challenge it's totally doable and there are actually very very few fights where you demon will die if done skillfully. And whilst Blizz does make some fights melee-unfriendly they also do the opposite. On any boss where the boss is wearing cloth you will leave all other casters in the dust. Celdhydream is also right when he says the Felguard needs melee treatment. Blessing of Might, Trueshot Aura and Battleshout will make a huge diffence to the Felguards DPS, and a Shadow Priest is almost compulsory to help heal it up.
