Currently you can DW effectively(with good gear), endgame raiding it is debatable that DW 0/32/39 is the best DPS spec. However, 3.1 is going to really change that. I don't expect to see many DW'ers after 3.1 comes.
Most say DK is a mix between rogue and warrior. Mainly because RP is like a warrior's rage and runes are like opposite combo points for rogues. I also think DK's have a bit of warlock mixed in with the basic feel of the class and healing capabilities/shadow skills and spells. I personally can't comment on a rogue since i've not had much experience with them, but I feel DK's are much more fun to play than warriors(personal opinion). I felt playing my warrior it all got very boring, tanking and dps was just blah imo.
Hope that helps somewhat. I generally just tell people to play the class and if they enjoy it play it, if not then don't. I know it's not for everyone, and with so many DK's there are tons of noobs out there that give the class a bad name; Being OP doesn't help with that either.
