Welcome to a new article series that we at Wowhead are trying out! Here at Wowhead we love art, every and all forms of it - drawing, painting, sculpting, woodworking, metalworking, jewelry making, papercrafting, badge making, everything under the sun.
In an effort to share with you all what we love what our wonderful community does we are trying out what we like to call "Wowhead's Artist's Corner"! About once a month we will feature an artist and their craft. This article will feature a small blurb about themselves so that you can get to know them just a bit, show off their art, and learn more about what they do. And of course, there will be a special giveaway for one of their items.
This month we will be featuring:
We spoke with Euphyley and asked her to tell us a little about herself.
"Hello! For those who don't know me, my name is Euphyley, or Euphy for short. I play a resto shaman (and a hunter, because I need to tame all the things). I've been playing WoW for 10 years, and it has been a huge part of my life. I've met so many incredible people and made some of the longest lasting friendships through this epic game. As a matter of fact, I actually met my husband through WoW 8 years ago, and we now have two amazing kids (ages 2 and 4).
As far as my art is concerned, I guess you could say I've always been one of those 'arts & crafty' types. When I was younger I could usually be found carrying around a sketch pad, drawing whenever I wasn't busy. I was named 'class artist' when I graduated middle school, and in high school my very first job was as an Arts & Crafts director when I was 15.
Today I work mainly with polymer clay as a medium, and I've been working with it for many years. I started back in middle school - one of my neighbors was a polymer clay artist, and I used to visit her for lessons during my summer vacations. I put down my clay when I went to high school and college, and then picked it up again a few years ago after my daughter was born.
I was actually inspired to pick up my clay work again after one of my guildies started a clay business of her own (littlefatdragons.com). Like me, she had just had a child and worked on her craft while her son was napping. The thought of being able to stay home and work while also caring for a child was quite tempting (especially with the opposite work schedule my husband and I had). Eventually I pulled out my clay, quit my daytime job and I've been crafting in my spare time ever since (spare time = the days my 2yo chooses to nap).
I like to craft a wide variety of things - mainly smaller jewelry type items inspired by the Blizzard universe, general pc gaming, tabletop gaming and fantasy in general. I occasionally make larger sculptures as well when I can find the time. One of my favorite things to craft (and what I'm probably best known for) are my little elemental charms. My first ones were based on the actual elements: earth, fire, water and air. I branched out from there into arcane elementals, FELementals, lightspawns and even edible (don't try to eat them) elementals like ice cream, coffee and cocktails. Mmmmmm.
In the future I really hope to see myself working on some larger, more intricate pieces than I've done in the past. When I can find more time and upgrade my workspace, it WILL happen. One of my favorite aspects of working with polymer clay is challenging myself to work outside of my comfort zone, and big projects are definitely it"
