Blizzard Entertainment's 32nd birthday

Samwise Didier
uploaded a short video reminiscing about his years with the company, as well as sharing the story of how he was hired all the way back in 1991!
Throughout the video, Samwise is drawing the Trinity, which showcases both the three major Blizzard franchises of Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo, as well as the three primary colors of the RGB color model.
Even those who don't keep up with the developers are likely to be familiar with Samwise, or at least his work. As an artistic contributor to almost every game released to date, Didier is chiefly responsible for the distinctive Blizzard art style, as well has having lent his abilities to writing, voice acting, music, sculpture, the Pandaren race, and is even credited with having
come up with the name
"Warcraft" based on his personal Dungeons & Dragons character.

"We haven't changed our style since the very beginning," he said in 2004. "The first orc we ever did, in Blackthorne was just a little guy chasing after Blackthorne — but we thought, 'Hey, these guys are cool,' so we used that character for our orcs in WarCraft. Artistically, we've always gone for the same sort of goals: we try to keep everything over-the-top, over-proportioned, and really colorful, then we add in as much 'comic factor' as we can."
