The Mythic Dungeon Invitational ended yesterday and viewership of the event reached over 50k during the Finals. Forbes
interviewed lead encounter designer, Morgan Day
on Mythic Dungeons and specific questions about the Mythic Dungeon Invitational.
You can check out the
full interview on their website
, but we've highlighted some interesting points below.
Blizzard is thinking about changing how Combat Resurrections in Mythic Dungeons or at the very least for the next MDI. Raids use a shared resource system and they're thinking about bringing that over to Mythic Dungeons.
was disabled in Mythic Dungeons because they now have to be aware of what these "clever use of game mechanics" strategies look like on a broadcast.
from Neltharion's Lair was a fun spectator experience watching players in chat try to guess which one it was!
from Cathedral of Eternal Night mid-tournament because it was bugged (for a while!) but decided they should wait until after the event in the future.
They saw a lot of cool strategies using Rogue's
Embozo de encubrimiento
or being able to pull the last boss of Neltharion's Lair without pulling all the nearby trash.
Day would like to see more risk-reward and strategy built into specific affixes. The example he gave was if
made you take more damage but deal more damage?
