An Enhance / Elemental build, is typically referred to as a "suicide" build. It can put out a lot of damage, but sacrifices staying power in terms of life and mana. It's definitely not a PvE build with the aggro output, and lack of +hit talent in Resto.
I guess it mostly depends on what sort of synergy you wish to see. All out, but burnt out quick, Enh / Ele can be good. Paced, group-buffing DPS monster, Enh / Resto is better.

The main reasons are:
Nature's Guidance: A free 3% hit combined with the 6% in the enhance tree really opens up gearing in endgame, letting you focus on ATK power and crit before having to worry about getting more hit.
Totemic Mastery: If you're raiding, or simply just doing heroics - This is a must. 20yds just doesn't cut it. Even for PvP/Arenas - your warrior buddy intercepts the clothie, and no longer has WF weapon, thanks to poor range on your totems.
While they aren't critical by any means, totemic mastery and healing focus are nice additions if you can make room for them.
Compare that to a measly 5% damage on shocks, and an extra second off them for 15 points? I think the choice is clear.
Sure, in a non raid situation you'll see a slight DPS gap between Enh/Ele vs. Enh/Res, but you'll oom a hell of a lot faster, and end up getting you or your group killed because you we're too exhausted to spot heal.
It all comes down to playstyle and personal choice in the end, however. It's a clear choice for me.
