Ventrilo Server Issue

My friend has been has been having a problem with his ventrilo client lately, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the situation. So here are the problems/symptoms:

Before logging on, his server status will show up as connecting to server. When he tries to log on, it simply gets stuck on that stage, and he cannot log into the ventrilo server. We've had him try everything to fix it as far as basic troubleshooting goes; resetting vent, WoW, reinstalling, resetting his computer, refreshing his IP address, and even talking to a live ventrilo rep.

We can't get anything to work, so if anyone has some knowledge on this type of dilemma, your help would be greatly appreciated.
