I don't understand why so many pallies stack int to no end
Int is Spell Power, Crit, and MP5 (raid buffed)
that's why.

One of the top guild Holy Paladins has around 37k mana.
No one needs to manage mana anymore. Spam away. You barely need to care about haste with your free haste boost talent. Whatever they do, they need to cut mana on gear by 1/3 and do something more creative. Dont blame players for stacking the int, its the best thing to do, but that doesnt mean its not ridiculous.
Blizzard $%^&ed up with int this expansion, and I find it highly ironic.

as a holy paladin, u should always gem and enchant for intelect, i mean its just the better thing for u too do. but if an item comes along that is better than your gear, don't just put it aside becuase your gear has got more intelect. even though intelect is your number 1 stat to go for, u can't forget about your other stats.

'u too do'
so you shorten 'you' to 'u' saving two letters, then type out 'too' instead of 'to' typing an extra letter. ..... wat
You also didnt spell
intellect
correctly even once. You'd think everyone would make it a point to spell it, but I guess some people need their iron!

Intellect is so good you dont even have to spell it correctly for it to be king!

Are you running out of mana at the end of fights, despite having a good working knowledge of all of your spells? Your int is too low.
Are you struggling to make your HPS meet the Damage Taken in heavy damage phases, despite having a good working knowledge of all of your spells? Your throughput is too low.
Is everything absolutely fine? Your stats might be slightly imbalanced, but who cares?

The problem is there's no creativity in fight mechanics anymore either.
Tank has 50k+ health.
Mob hits tank for 35k+
Mob hits tank for 35k+
Mob hits tank for 35k+
Etc. Lather, rinse, repeat till you win, or wipe.
Logic dictates that you need to spam your biggest heal in order to compensate for this constantly happening.
Now there's 2 choices, aim for output, or longevity.
Spellpower for bigger heals, which is nice.. except when you run outta mana in 2mins, and your tank dies while you use Divine Plea.
Intellect for slightly smaller heals, but the ability to heal for significantly longer.
Choice is pretty clear.
Pretty simplified scenario with alot of exaggerated examples, but you get the gist of it.

I love my mana pool. Currently at 31.6k unbuffed, topping off at 37.5k during a proper raid.
No, there isn't a single point where I've felt I've had too much intellect. I've gone OOM, I've had to DP, but I've never been at a point where my heals needed to be n% stronger.
The gear supplements the basic stats you'd need for the content you're doing
, anything else is just what you prefer working with. In my old guild, I was usually the fastest healer to notice incoming damage, and I was constantly putting HL into the raid. I needed the mana pool to sustain this for as long as possible, usually until the boss was dead.
Does anyone know how Arcane Mages DPS? If they have mana at the end of the fight, they sacrificed a huge amount of DPS. AB spam is the strongest DPS they have, and they avoid having to use other spells whenever possible. For their mana's sake, they will break their AB stacks and start building it up again. Try and apply this to Holy Paladin healing. Look at your mana pool in relation to the fight's duration and gauge your spell usage with that in mind.
If you need the marginal bonus of SP, then take it. If you need the extra speed from Haste. If you want to see mana trickle in, gem for the Mp5. Intellect is a very good stat; intellect has some function in all the parts of how we heal, short of our cast speed. I needed the mana pool to be successful. My mana was usually the only thing between us and a wipe. It may seem like I'm overvaluing myself, but it's honestly how the raids would go.
Holy Paladins already have some of the highest SP coefficients in the game. This means we don't need that much SP in order to be successful. Gemming and enchanting for SP is really your choice.

SP doesn't affect our effective mana pool like it does for other classes as well.
Take druids, the more SP they have the less amount of HoTs will be needed to sustain the tanks HP.
Now i cant be arsed doing math since it's just an example, but say that 200 SP would make sure that a full stack of lifebloom can sustain the tank. If you would trade that 200 SP for 100 int he would have to use a full stack of lifebloom AND a rejuv to sustain the tank. Thus trading the SP for int would be a loss since he would have to use two spells instead of one to sustain the tank resulting in a higher mana consumption.
Sure this is applicable to paladin healing as well. But seeing the gap between FoL and HL you would need
so
much SP to make a FoL spam compareable to a HL spam for a regular paladin that it's just not viable, or possible for that matter.
Int is king.
