Patch 7.2 Catch-Up Tips for Returning 110s and Alts
15.04.2017 um 16:19
If you're returning to WoW after a break, it may feel overwhelming with all the rapid-fire patches and new developments. However Patch 7.2 has made some parts of the game easier to catch-up on, so we've rounded up frequently asked questions for alts!
How do I get Artifact Knowledge Quickly?
In Patch 7.2, players can reach Artifact Knowledge 26 very quickly - in one day if they have enough Order Resources.
Go from 1-25 with the repeatable quest
Wissen ist Artefaktmacht
. Each quest turn-in per Knowledge level is 0
. If you started playing at Legion's launch and took a break, you probably have a lot of
saved up. You will need 12500 Resources total to go from 1-25 instantly this way.
If you already have a well-progressed main character with Artifact Knowledge 25, purchase
Kompendium der Artefaktforschung: Band I-IV
in your Order Hall for 0
and send it to your alt. They can then use the book to reach AK 20 instantly. Then complete 5
Wissen ist Artefaktmacht
to reach AK 25.
Players at Artifact Knowledge 25 complete a short quest to unlock the ability to progress to Artifact Knowledge 50:
Suche nach verlorenem Wissen
at several places on the Broken Shore, after completing
Angriff auf die Verheerte Küste
. Completing this quest series rewards AK level 26, and lets you keep placing orders up to AK 50.
You need to use the
in your bag to reach AK 26.
Speak to the Order Hall Researcher to learn
Entdecktes verlorenes Wissen
This is important to start because it's a huge gain! AK 25 is 25,000% and AK 26 is 100000%
What are quick ways to gain Artifact Power?
Once you reach Artifact Knowledge 26, you'll be getting massive amounts of Artifact Power per activity. For example, one World Quest will award ~200k Artifact Power, which would take a fresh artifact to Trait 22.
Complete any remaining story quests, as they reward higher-than-average Artifact Power. The
has many high Artifact Power rewards. For example, just doing the
opening "Nightfall" questline
will reward a million Artifact Power at Artifact Knowledge 26.
Complete World Quests for Artifact Power, especially rare quests. You will probably be focusing World Quests anyway for
Pfadfinder der Verheerten Inseln, Teil eins
. When you complete four quests for an
, you get an additional Artifact Power token (example
Forschungsfoliant von Nar'thalas
) which awards 400,000 AP at AK 26.
Loot treasures in questing zones. With high Artifact Knowledge, a few of the treasure AP items could get you a new trait.
If you are interested in PvP but haven't prestiged much, consider working towards Rank 1 Prestige. In Patch 7.2, the Honor needed to hit Rank 1 has been cut in half, and reaching many of the ranks rewards an Artifact Power token.
While group activities like dungeons and raid bosses also award a high amount of Artifact Power, we've focused on solo sources in case you feel inexperienced and want more familiarity with your character before playing with others!
How do I improve my Artifact?
Reaching 35 Artifact Traits is very easy due to the combination of Artifact Knowledge and Artifact Power improvements described above. Once you reach Artifact Knowledge 26 and queue up for Artifact Knowledge 27, Khadgar has a new quest for you:
Die Verheerte Küste: Untersuchung der Legion
. This will lead to a short story-driven quest to empower your weapon and open up a new set of Empowered Traits.
The cost of traits 36 and 37 should be easy to reach with huge Artifact Knowledge gains. These provide significant damage and stamina increases and are worth picking up. The cost of future traits will be quite steeper but still worth progressing towards.
third artifact relic
is easier in Patch 7.2. If you started playing at Legion's launch, chances are you have already made some progress on this questline, but put it aside. Here are some improvements for the original campaign:
All class campaign missions are now 1 hour.
All class quests that required 20 World Quests now require 10.
How do I gear up quickly?
Do Legion Assaults; you will get a piece of gear from the final boss as well as a Dauntless token. This can be turned into ilvl 850 loot.
In addition, Legion Assaults are great sources of Nethershards, which are used to purchase more Dauntless Tokens on the Broken Shore.
Before you start spending Nethershards on Dauntless Tokens, run a few random heroics or battlegrounds - you have a decent chance to get gear in the ilvl 840-860 range.
Once you've amassed some gear from naturally playing, spend Nethershards on Dauntless Token slots which are still weak.
As your gear gets better, so will the gear rewards from World Quests. Also keep in mind that these World Quests can proc Warforged/Titanforged.
If you are missing a relic, consider completing
Die Kathedrale der Ewigen Nacht: Der Altar der Aegis
from Cathedral of Eternal Night for an ilvl 860+ relic.
As you continue to amass Nethershards, spend them on 5k Relinquished tokens instead from the Broken Shore. This will create an ilvl 880+ piece of loot - either a piece with randomized stats, or a particular item from a boss.
Make sure to acquire
Siegel des verheerten Schicksals
and use them on World bosses. They of course work on Dungeon and Raid bosses, but if you feel comfortable enough to do this group content, you are probably beyond the scope of this guide!
What activities should I focus on at 110?
While it's important to always play what is fun (and with friends!), here are some tips as to content to try out:
Kriegsvorräte der Legionsrichter
for building turn-ins provides
Armies of Legionfall Reputation
Anerkennung der Legionsrichter
which can contain Nethershards, Order Resources, and even a legendary! To get
Kriegsvorräte der Legionsrichter
, you'll be completing a lot of World Quests on the
. Make sure to take advantage of the
- the World Bosses that spawn with the Nether Disruptor are useful for alts, as well as several Mage Tower buffs that offer Artifact Power or Reputation boosts.
Pfadfinder der Verheerten Inseln, Teil zwei
unlocks flying in Patch 7.2. Check out our
to see what you have left!
- they now drop ilvl 845 loot and you can queue up for
Court of Stars
without needing to do attunement quests.
- Great for Nethershards, reputation, gear, and even special transmog weapons. Learn more in the
Legion Assault Guide
Season 3 PvP
- The new PvP season just started so now is a great time to get into PvP. The Season 3 Gladiator gear is a recolor of
Tier 20 Armor
from Tomb of Sargeras, which in turn is a high-definition version of iconic Tier 6 from Black Temple. You can ease into PvP with new brawls like
, or simply do PvP World Quests when they are up. If you're only interested in PvP for the
, many PvP World Quests do not require you to kill players - and do reward Combatant or Gladiator gear.
There are many more things to do in the patch, detailed in our
Patch 7.2 Survival Guide
. If you're looking for things to collect, try the
Gleichgewicht der Kräfte
questline for a new artifact appearance, the puzzles for the
Hidden Artifact Appearances
, the battle pet achievement
, the transmog set achievement
Azeroth's Next Topmodel
, and the
questline for the
Manasäbler des Arkanisten
