Any changes to gearing for PvP?
Some changes in store for Patch 7.2 for PvP gearing. People were used to the old system that was Honor-Point based, and now is RNG based.
New token system, related to the Obliterum Forge, that allows you to upgrade pieces that is lower item level is coming in 7.2.
Bonus rolls are coming to the rated weekly quest. If you win 10 2v2 matches, you get a piece of gear based on your best rating. In 7.2, you can use a bonus roll from that week to get another piece of gear from that system.
The Legion PvP system didn't have a lot of transparency with the bad luck protection; this system should make players feel better and that they are progressing towards the item they want.
Is there a chance to finally have PvP mounts BoA and not just to one character?
This is a change coming in 7.2 as well. There are several types of PvP mounts (Gladiator, Vicious mounts, etc). Gladiator mounts will stay character specific, but all other mounts like Vicious and Prestigious mounts will be account wide.
Is it possible to make leveling through PvP a bit faster?
Legion required a retune of experience and Honor - at first it was too generous so Blizzard cut it in half. But it's being retuned again in 7.2 to be more efficient. Blizzard is keeping an eye on it so it doesn't trivialize leveling.
Will the new PvP elite gear ensembles be purchasable from the vendor for people that hit 2k rating in the next season? Will Legion Season 1 and 2 PvP sets be purchasable as Ensembles?
The only way to get the current season's look is through PvP. You can buy past season looks through Marks of Honor.
Using Season 3 as an example: you cannot buy the elite ensemble from a vendor. It is also the same look at Season 4, so you can't buy it from a vendor until Season 5. In Season 3 you can buy Season 1 and 2 looks.
Any plans to implement templates in duels?
Blizzard is looking into implementing templates but it will not be ready for 7.2.
Why did you not go ahead with PvP template changes in 7.2?
The initial changes were base resilience, lowering healing - some impactful changes - which were scrapped. In Legion, Blizzard has increased stamina and primary stats by ~25% which has the effect of reducing damage and healing in instanced PvP, but it did not affect World PvP. So Blizzard looked into ways they could improve world PvP in 7.2. Then ran through other suggestions like Battle Fatigue, temporary resilience etc.
Blizzard doesn't have a good solution yet but they are looking at legendaries or set bonuses that add a lot of damage to players in World PvP to make the feel of World PvP less bursty. Blizzard agrees this is something they need to pay attention to more in upcoming expansions.
What about solo queues for RBGs?
Blizzard feels that this would not be a small feature to add - it's not like taking Skirmish queue code and putting on Rated prompts on top of it. For PvP brackets with solo queue, we'd have healer problems. Perhaps there could be an incentive for healers to queue, like extra rewards.
Other Blizzard games with solo queue, like Overwatch, have roles which are undefined at the time you queue up and the games face different challenges. This is different than Warcraft where you select a role in advance. Blizzard wants to avoid a situation of role imbalance while also trying to create groups of similar skill and MMR with quick queues.
Another issue is PvP composition; Warcraft is reliant on the synergy between different classes. If you are placed into a random group that is a bad comp, players will be upset and blame the matchmaking. There are some specializations that can shine in certain compositions, but can do poorly in a random group. Blizzard wants to avoid players being frustrated with the system.
There are also some issues related to MMR calculations on spec vs class, or harassment and stress - if the matchmaking system makes you lose rating or people in your group are purposely losing, that is upsetting and systems need to be in place to weed out players misbehaving.
Blizzard agrees that if solo queue existed, more people would participate in PvP, but it can't be done recklessly or quickly. Setting this system up is a lot of work.
Finding partners is a barrier of entry to rated PvP - anything else to do besides solo queueing?
Blizzard thinks there is value in a Group Finder solution to the situation and how that tool can be improved. There should be some barrier of entry to rated PvP to ensure a consistent skill level and pleasant experience; perhaps the current barrier is too high but there still should be one.
Can we get a page on the WoW site or forums that explains the stat template and ability modifiers?
Blizzard would like to better-highlight the stat template information. Originally there was a post made during beta, but it changed frequently, time-consuming, and hard to present concisely.
In the game, spell tooltips and character stat templates change when you enter into a PvP zone, which provides a way for you to see that information. Blizzard would like more ways to present this information, but no current plans.
Would it be possible to show title reward range on the official website?
The end of system title system is nearly as old as WoW, and it is complicated and difficult to figure out. Blizzard is working on a way to make this information clearer in this PvP season; they are aiming to post the results 1 week or so before the end of season, and have better communication systems moving forward. There is value in letting players know the ratings for each title in advance, and Blizzard wants to do a much better job. Just be clear that things can change and we don't want to mislead people by projecting results.
Can we get a Proving Grounds style instance to practice healing with a PvP template setup?
Blizzard would love to design a PvP hangout place where people can practice PvP with their templates, but it's not coming in 7.2 due to complexity. Removal of PvP vendors did lose some of the social element. It's something we'd love to design in the game.
Will you address the Boomkin/Shadow Priest stacking in RBGs?
Blizzard is okay with some classes being better than others, but they realize that the RBG representation of Balance Druids and Mistweaver Monks have become a problem and need to be addressed. Need to be careful about adjusting spread damage that they don't get gutted.
Do we need templates for different types of PvP and brackets?
Blizzard is trying to stay away from different stat templates for different situations, and they don't feel great that there's currently such a large gulf between PvP and PvE setups. The system should be elegant, not ugly - so many stat templates would lead to optimal rotations for different types of content. They don't want the tuning to be too granular which isn't worth the value. This also leads to a slippery slope argument.
Why does shroud of concealment not work in rated PvP?
The game feels better not constantly having this whole team opener you have to deal with. And it's not just unavailable in arenas because we want consistent rules.
Tanks in PvP?
A real challenge. Invincibility is not great in PvP. So we've tried to make them a little bit more about harassment. Not bursty but sturdy. It's taking a lot of iteration to get there though.
Removal of Mistwalk?
Mistweavers were way too mobile. Their movement kit is just fine without it. We also saw that PvE players weren't taking it either. So complete removal was the right decision.
Why don't you buff or nerf Honor Talents instead of stat templates?
Blizzard does both, and it solves different problems - sometimes an ability needs to be changed, sometimes it's about skill/mastery and not about the Honor Talents.
Can you separate 2s and 3s skirmishes again? Tired of 2 v 3 matches?
Blizzard is not looking to separate them at the current time, but they are looking to deal with people who do not accept the queues. The idea is that a skirmish should be a quick arena. This should be fixed by entering people after everyone has accepted. We do like the one button accept for skirmishes.
Is World Defense ever going to make a return?
World Defense is a channel and it's difficult to make it work on all servers with how the sharding technology has evolved over the years. We don't have a delivery date on it yet, but it is on Blizzard's radar, they understand the value it brings to the game. RP-PvP realms might be better for you if you want this back.
What about more consistent ways to get Marks of Honor?
Blizzard will look at the droprate of them in Battlegrounds. Ashran is a good way to get one reliably; it's always been a place for people that want relaxed PvP - as well as the weekly Battleground Events.
A lot of consumable items that are usable in Battlegrounds like feasts will also be available for purchase with Marks of Honor.
What is plan to increase participation on arena ladder at high levels?
Right now Blizzard feels participation numbers are pretty good.
