Yeah I turned out Prot as my secondary spec away from healer which is Main Spec.
I am getting tank gear for pve ofc., but is it also decent in pvp?

Also PvE tank gear has no crit on it. And since we get like 11%-15% crit chance from talents... Good luck trying to crit on heavy resilence geared person

Yea cause crits are what make pepulz die!
To the OP:
You can PvP just fine in PvE prot gear. Try getting a block set for it though.
Having 30k HP and shoving 4-5k SoR's in peoples faces is very fun indeed.
In WSG and EotS people are gonna love you as a flag carrier.

Basically gear yourself up in the ret pvp gear, you want as much Str and BV as you can get your hands on if you plan to play offensivley.
If you plan on being a flag carrier/node defender then again gear up in as much ret pvp gear as possible. The only difference here is that you will gem/enchant a bit differently more for the survivability factor.
The reason to gear up in pvp gear is that resi> defensive stats. This is namely true because your defensive stats will do nothing against non-melee attacks. People in pvp also try to be behind you as much as possible to reduce avoidance (parry) so some of your tanking stats will be wasted.
Resi will also help to mitigate the effects of Dots and mana drains, those coming namely from what your opponents in pvp will try to do to you. Mana-burning priests and locks, viper stinging Hunters, bleed happy rogues and ferals along with the ever irritating multitude of caster associated DoT's, with all of these Resi is your friend, your defensive stats are largely wasted here. Oh and the crit reduction never hurt too :)
Also consider that playing pvp in PvE prot spec will mean your at a disadvantage already... so you want to help yourself as much as possible on the gear front ;)
