To obtain the key to the rest of Dire Maul, you must enter the East wing. Immediately to the left will be a friendly imp. Talk to him, and he'll run off. Work your way toward his new location, speak to him again, and he'll run off again. Continue to do this, and you'll eventually back him into a corner, where he'll change form and attack the party. Kill him to loot the key from his corpse. Everyone in the party will be able to loot the key.
All three wings are a good place to get savage frond and elemental cores, if you're farming for Argent Dawn rep.
DM east is a nice place to get Felcloth, get 3-5 ppl do the whole instance and everyone in party will get up to 10 felcloth (depends on how many you are, and how much trash you are killing)
How to sneak into the Library (useful to know to solo mage quest (getting the actual quest), turning in a class book, or getting Quel'Serrar):
1. Enter DM North
2. Wait for the first patrol to pass to your right and run down the left ledge of the ramp slightly to your left. Jump down to the back wall (turn left while on the ledge so that you are facing the top of the ramp), and jump slightly to the right.
3. Follow the edge around to the front of the library doors and you're in.
Running straight through the garden or trying to stealth through will fail, you'll just end up running back to your corpse.
After last boss in DM east a door will open to a small cave. In the cave you will find 2-3 Rich Thorium vein with a huge drop rate for an arcane crystal. At least 1 of the veins should have an arcane crystal. So you if really need 1 and you are low on money, go to DM east kill the last boss and you will have a big chance to get 1.
This is probably the best place post-TBC to "twink" your level 55-60s. Unfortunately, Dire Maul has become all but a ghost town, while the other "lower-end" dungeons are still being run rather frequently. If you've never gone here before, please, go grab a group and run all three wings. Dire Maul is one of the best instances in the game, designed very well, it's challenging for the right level players, and it's a load of fun.
I have been farming Dire Maul rare spawns on Maelstrom server for about two months straight now, it is very profitable as many of the rare drops are still worth a good amount of gold. Instead of posting individually on each of the rare spawns, I decided to post here to clear a few things up.
First thing to realize is that The Maul, the area inside Dire Maul where the rare spawns appear, is a FFA PvP arena. This is the same as the Gurubashi Arena in STV, you can kill anybody inside regardless of faction, as long as they are not in your group. What this means to you: If you come across somebody already killing a rare spawn, just look at it as an opportunity... Allow them to drop the boss to 20%, deal some amount of damage to the boss and make easy work of the player. The tag becomes yours, and the player cannot corpse run back in time to do anything about it. Enjoy your ninja'd loots.
Next we need to identify our rare spawns. There are a total of three, they are Mushgog, The Razza, and Skarr the Unbreakable. I know FOR A FACT that the spawn timer is not the 2-4 days, or even 3-4 hours that everybody thinks it is. How do I know this? Well I killed Skarr and logged out at The Maul, and after logging in 10 minutes later I found The Razza waiting peacefully for his death. There was another occurence when I was fighting either Razza or Skarr and Mushgog spawned DURING the fight. On another occasion, I arrived at The Maul where Razza and Mushgog were both already spawned at the same time. As you may have gathered, this shows that the three bosses are on seperate spawn timers that are not related to eachother at all. As for the individual spawn timers, I cannot say exactly how long it is possible for one boss to spawn back to back, but the closest I've seen was about 17 hours.
Well this is becoming a bit lengthy, so I'll just leave it at that. I plan on making guides for each boss, so look for them in the next for weeks. I'll also post a comment on Griniblix the Spectator, I'm currently collecting information to try and see if the things he shouts have any relation with the bosses that spawn next, or the time when they spawn.
Is it possible for a 70 Marksman hunter to solo?
hey all i have a question:
how lvl for a paladin to enter solo,to the arena??
The lowest level you can zone in is 45.
the maul is insane, i got 8 points of herbalism there in less than 60 seconds, there was 9 plant spawns (a black lotus i couldn't loot) all within the centre of the maul, as long as no-one else is around, can be awesome herbying
ps. mountain silversage, golden sansum and dreamfoil were the plants
VERY good instance to grind money at lvl 70. I am a protection warrior with decent gear and i do the instance in like 40-45 minutes and get between 80-100g per full boss run....if i am lucky i get 120g too...So if u want money, this instance and Stratholme are the best to farm at lvl 70
Dire maul is located at Feralas, go west of Camp Mojacher, until you see a road heading north and you see white pillars and you'll be there ^_^
the back door to the east instance at the Lariss Pavilion, loc. 76, 37. it's a huge white thing and it's hard to miss.
Back on my 60 human paladin, I very rarely ran Dire Maul... and now that I've started farming Dire Maul: East on my 70 paladin for enchanting materials, herbs, and thorium, I realise I missed out.
The loot from this instance - particularly the healing gear - was ahead of its time. A lot of this gear has near-perfect itemisation by pre-BC standards. I mean, look at
Gloves of Restoration
Emerald Flame Ring
. The gloves were near perfect for any shaman, druid or pally, and the ring had excellent itemisation for a priest or druid. For other roles,
Evil Eye Pendant
is a good example - while not providing any stam, that's an awesome level of avoidance on a piece that doesn't waste any stat points.
If I had the chance to redo my pre-BC adventures, I know I would have paid Dire Maul a lot more attention. ^^
Right, Where is Dire Maul? :< Haven't a clue
Hi all i'm a 71 warrior with the dark moon cards crusade and wrath and i want to know if you have disenchant and run this instance after selling and killing every thing in here what amount of gold did you make
money from killing mobs
This place is a goldmine if you are the right class and have the right profs. I farmed Stratholme with my prot paladin for the runecloth disenchanting before. But this here is just something. My tactic is to go straight to the upstairs and kill
. Jump downstairs and attack
. All of the Ironbark protectors from the first room will rush in and join the battle also some lesser elites might engage. So be ready for some AoE. The green drops from Illyanna and Tendris can be disenchanted to
Greater Eternal Essence
which sell for a fair amount on my server (40g Essence, 2-5g Dust). For the blue drops.. sometimes it's just better to vendor those since the shards are not in a value. I also get about 1 green a run from the protectors when fighting Tendris.
A run takes about 5-8 minutes so you have 30-20 minutes to send all the disenchanted and random crap to your auction mule. So far after 15 runs I have gotten 1 boe epic, 5 boe blues, a bagfull of herbs,
which have sold for about 30g alone. 20g from the vendor trash, 10g looted and over 1000 gold from the Essences and Dusts. The BoEs haven't sold yet. And also have gotten 3 of the class quest books and 4 Librams. Those made me about 50g.(The class books don't sell for that much but someone still seems to need the Librams)
PS. Remember to check the arena for rare.
PSS. I suppose herbalist enchanter is the best combo for this, money wise. Any class is good if you manage the Tendris pull with all the elites. They have entagle and knockback.
These are the Horde quests for Dire Maul

In addition, there's four quests for Dire Maul in the "Dungeon Set 2" quest chain which starts in Orgrimmar with one of the
An Earnest Proposition

- obtained in Dire Maul
The Instigator's Enchantment
- obtained in Dire Maul
and a selection of one out of four of each of these:
The Left Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet
- obtained in Blackrock Mountain
The Right Piece of Lord Valthalak's Amulet
- obtained in Blackrock Mountain
Keep in mind that you have to do a lot of other quests before you can obtain these.
It's absolutely trivial to solo the entire instance as a level 78 Blood Death Knight.
Tip: at 78 or above you can run past the majority of trash mobs and all bosses without aggroing anything.
Be very careful running past Kromcrush - I ran around him on the right.
To get past the door before him you can use an Arcanite Skeleton Key if you have Blacksmithing at 275 or above - be aware that you will need to open your keyring and right click on it then click on the door to open it.
Easy to solo as a 74 balance night elf druid. dont forget drinks
Dire Maul East Coordinates: 43.8, 67.4
To get into Dire Maul West go in the main DIre Maul entrace. Go up the long stone ramp and straight ahead. Once you go into then through the Zig Zag boulevard you will be standing in front of a wooden wall. You go left or right and then forward to get into the next plaza. Go down the ramp and left on the grass curving around to the right. You will see a ramp going up to the left. The door at the top right of that ramp is the entrance to Dire Maul West. You will need the crescent key from the Pusilin quest (see
) or use the dying trick at the door and ressurecting inside the door once you run back.
Confirmed. What you need to do is go into the East Wing and complete the
event. When you kill him eventually he will drop the key to the North Wing. You need to go in there and kill the
, loot him for his key and then loot the chest in the middle of the room near the
. Then you can simply run to the kings room.
kill him! Around the edges of the room behind the king are a load of lvl 60 elite undeads who have 1/1hp and will not attack you (although they are "aggressive") they cannot be killed. Perfect for lvling both melee and ranged wep skills. should take about 25 mins to do the whole thing and get to the undeads.
Does anyone know where the mineral veins are?
I don't know if it's just luck, but in three times in Dire Maul, i've looted
Can u please tell me where the west entrance is into DM from the meeting stone i only know of the east entrance
entrance is at the east parto of the arena. at 43,67 aprox....
This is one of the most interesting and hard for his level dungeons in the game.
I'd just like to say that my very first tribute run to DM, was ridiculously amazing... made doubly so by my group which both enjoyed each others' company and worked extremely well together. My recommendation for a tribute run group would be:
2x lvl 60 rogue (imp sap)
1x lvl 60 warrior (prot spec'd)
1x lvl 60 pally (holy/prot spec'd)
1x lvl 60 druid (resto. spec'd)
I didn't know what to expect, but having 2 rogues or else a rogue and a mage is necessary, but you absolutely need a rogue for sap and they're the best i've ever seen fix the broken frost trap. Our warrior held aggro and did a hell of a job and wasting whatever it was he was holding... ridiculously smoothe run... even through to the king, where we had me (pally) off-tank Cho'Rush, so the rest of the group could take out the king. Once that's done, you're the king of the gordoks! Claim the tribute in your name, get the blessings from the guards and pickup some booze from Stomper Kreeg and you've got a hell of a good run! Anypoint... that's all I had to say about the tribute run.
p.s. Anyone going DM North non-tribute, is messed up. Tribute guarantees blue and possibility of epic. Very fun run.
Or... u just get 1 man to kill himself near the door. When he comes back for the body he res inside and open for the rest. BTW, u can use truesilver keys inside instance, atleast on the upper door.
you have to have both keys or a rogue with 300 LP skill
if you cant get rogue, just kill the first boss and get his key for the inner door and reset instance
pass first 2 bosses easy
3rd boss , you have to trap in a broken beartrap in middle of floor, you need to fix it
1x thorium widget
then in that room is the guy with the suit quest, you need the suit to get past 4th boss,
4x bolt of runecloth
8x rugged leather
1x ogre tannin
the ogre tannin is in a basket up 1 lvl of that, clear room first, when you loot basket, it spawns a guy, he isnt a boss,
then you go through inner door and the 4th boss is in the way you put the suit on and talk to him, and he goes away,
only 1 suit is needed in the group,
60 Mage (Engineer)
60 Hunter (me)
We ran this 3 straight times with zero wipes! The Key: a leader (Sins; Frostmourne) who knew what to do and how to lead. Not much more to add from previous posts except to emphasise shackles, freeze traps, banning, and the loot!
Couple more thougths:
1) Hunter bear can off-tank Cho'Rush if Priest can heal it 3-4 shots.
2) Rogue Not Needed if you have high level Engineer.
3) Talk to Cho'Rush after killing King and he will make all King....then talk to other guards who will give you blessings that last for 2 hours...this helps a lot if you plan to run a second or third time.
Personally, as a hunter, I reccommend taking a hunter with you. If the hunter is experienced in DM Tribute/North, they will already know this, but hunter pets make great offtanks once you get to the king. My cat has never died doing this and I have done 12-15 runs with him offtanking every time. This way, you don't waste the great DPS of a tank, or the healing of a pally on the observer...Noraven on Kargath...feel free to message me about anything :)
Heres some details on a few aspects of this run I discovered that wasnt quite clear to me from the many (great) DM Tribute run guides on the web. I ran my first attempt after the 1.11 patch.
Obtaining the Ogre Suit
Talk to the goblin Knot Thimblejack for Gordok Ogre Suit quest. The ogre tannin component is located in a basket located on an upper platform behind a bonfire guarded by 2-3 mobs. Loot the tannin and kill the semi-ogre boss that charges after you (doesnt affect tribute). Turn in the materials to the goblin and receive the suit. Talk to the goblin again and, if you are a tailor or leatherworker, you can ask to learn to craft the ogre suit free of charge. If you have found the Gorkok Shackle Key, you can release the goblin now for additional xps/gold. Obviously, do not release him until you have obtained the ogre suit and, if possible, have learned how to make it.
Once you picked up the ogre tannin, its a good idea for the party to stay together and ALL return back to the goblin (safety in numbers). Our party split up and a patrolling EYE caught half of us and summoned two 60 elite void walkers.
King Gordok Fight
After the king is dead, ChoRush the Observer (ogre) stops fighting and goes back to its spawn point and sits down. Just keep the observer away from and off the main tank & dps for the entire battle. He should live for best tribute.
Everyone is king once the ogre king is dead, even any party members killed during the battle. If you cant rez your dead, they can ghost walk back into the instance, rez and then walk past all ogres and dogs that may have repopd back to the crown room. The repop wont aggro because you are the king even though you died and havent been officially crowned by Mizzle the Crafty (see below). Beware, however, that the SPIDERS will aggro. The spiders are easily avoided, however, by taking a different route to the crown room.
Loot the 2 blue drops from the dead king. Speak to the short ogre named Mizzle the Crafty standing where the King once stood. Crafty will crown you King and reveal a tribute chest. If all the bosses are alive, the tribute is 3 blues and 2 greens.
The tribute loot is not automatically rolled on once someone opens the tribute chest (unlike looting blues from a mob). The tribute chest acts just like any other chest in the game. You wont know whats in the tribute chest until someone links it or loots it. The blues and greens from my run were all BoP.
Go back and find/speak with the other ogre bosses you avoided earlier. Three bosses award you 2-hour buffs (+3% crit, +15% stam, +200 attack power). The drunk ogre boss awards you alcohol and you can purchase more from him. The Captain Kromcrush, which you met earlier, will offer you the quest Unfinished Gordok Business to kill a prince (takes you to DM West then library I believe).
It is actually possible to solo the "demon part". Enter the entrance where key is needed. You will see a room with (as far as you can see) 2 plants and 2 groups of demons (3 in each group). Do like this to get the plants down:
1. Pull with CoD.
2. Banish asap.
3. when Banish breaks, cast a lower rank of Banish
4. CoD procs. Do the whole process all over again until it is dead.
Now, to get the demon groups do like this:
1. Enslave one of them.
2. Banish one.
3. Kill the other not last guy.
4. Kill the second guy, that had just been released from Banish.
5. Order your enslaved demon to stay and release it.
6. Kill it.
Clear the entire first room (including the invisible demons).
Move on and do the same thing to clear the second room ( the room with Lethendris). Save some of the invisible pats for later. Now, soulstone yourself enslave an invisible guy and move to Lethendris. This is how i did:
1. Attack with your demon.
2. Nuke down the imp.
3. Try to nuke Lethendris and make her to follow you. When she casts her spells, just run away and hope that your demon will slow her down, continue kiting her until she is dead. I didn't kill both the imp and Lethendris at the same time. I have my soulstone to thank :)
Now move downstairs to Hydrospawn. I actually don't know how i killed the imps, they were really hard, but i did it at last. I tryed to kill Hydrospawn just like Lethendris, but i only got it down to 50%. Maybe a full epic warlock can do it :)
Don't know if this is new news or not...but the Inner key that drops off of the guard in the first area is now a DM only item; meaning that if you leave DM the key dissapears..so you can no longer get the key, reset the instance, and then run through.
That means you either need a 300LP rogue, or the truesilver keys (if that even still works).
The tribute system is broken. The King buff will not stick (acording to GM) We found this out the hard way after 2 hours of killing to get to the King. We got nothin. GM said they are wokring to fix the problem
hey now that we are lvl 70 can we solo the main boss in north DM?
The coords to the back door are 77,37 (Lariss Pavillion)!
Can we please get a map!
70 Protec war solo tribute run.
Here we go...
You can take out the full pulls by spamming shield block, shield slam, and revenge.
When you enter Dire Maul North, turn left and hug the right side of the path(watch out for pats). Turn right and go for the center opening into the courtyard where there are 3 ogres it. Kill them and go straight ahead up the ramp. Be wary of the many pats in the courtyard, then loot the key from the chest in the center, move through the door down the ramp straight ahead and wait on the Wandering Eye of Kilrogg and kill it before it ports the Netherwalkers...Those suck. It will pat up to you. Kill the mobs in the hallway and move through the door.
Now you are in Guard Slip's room. Wait until the other eye is in the room with the goblin in front of you, then pop a Lesser Invis pot while standing near bones on the ground to the left and run for the ramp around the corner. Get half way up and turn to wait for the eye as it pats back. Kill it and move on killing 2 pulls on right blocking the way to the next ramp.
When you get to the top, you need to kill only the 2 reavers guarding the door to the left. Here you need a key or a powerful seaforium charge(or a rogue:D). After entering here, you have 2 choices. I pop a Lesser Invis pot and run straight past the mobs and Captain, then pop the Gnomish Cloaking Device before the pot runs out. You wind up in the middle of the dogs and you can just kill them. The other way is to kill the group in the hallway and then using only the pot run past the Captain and kill the 2 ogres behind him to the right and then the dogs. Either way, make sure you kill the 3 dogs patting around as well before moving on .
Now for Gordok and Cho'Rush...the way I did this was get all the way behind him. Behind the rocks but in LoS and as far away as I could get to pull. After shooting, I run straight for the pillars circling his area. This takes you out of LoS and Cho'Rush runs over. Then Figure 8's around the pillars keeping Gordok in front of you spamming Shield Block/Slam and Revenge. Keep running them around, pop a healing pot early on just in case, and your set. :)
420. This is brought to you because I got high.
Where is the entrance to dire maul west?
Coords for Meeting Stone are: 58,44
Dire Maul East Crescent Key. Me a 61 mage and a 61 Warlock got the key, with bottom tear outland greens. First, go to the entrance on the west end off of the pavalion. You should only have to kill on easy tree thing. Then you talk to Pussilin. After you talk to him he takes off. Here is a trick, do not follow him. Leave the instance and come back in by the entrance to the south. Pussuling will be visible when you first get into the area where the Mobs are. This will cut your time killing mobs in half. If you can buff yourself up of have a couple of tanking creatures you can rush up and talk to Pussullin quickly then run back to the instnace entrance to keep from having to kill several tough mobs. Now Pusullin takes off and heads towards the NE of the large area you are in. You do have to kill everything along the way to get to him again. This time when he takes off he heads to the area where the demons are. Since there was a lock in our group the demons where largly cake. After talking to Pussilin in the oper area of the demons he takes off one last time and goes up onto the balcony. When you talk to him on the balcony he attacks with 4 or 5 little imps. We wiped here. As previously mentioned Pussulin reflects 50% of magic back and we were 2 casters, ouch. After the wipe we found that Pussilin stayed in a corner and his non-elite but tougher than normal imps where seperated from him. We were able to pull them on the ramp leading to Pussulin seperat from him, which made taking him down easy. I hope this helps, I'll try and post a map with showing this stuff.
All of these are a fun solo at 70 (feral druid). I found West to be the trickiest/most fun to solo.
The North can be stealth soloed for a "tribute run" where you become king of the instance at the end. A tribute run is where you spare at least one boss. It takes me about 20 minutes to do a run. I'll get about 2-3 blue and and 3 green items.
There are some good vids showing a North solo tribute run on youtube.
There is also great info here:
Here's a non-lock picking/non-engineering stealth solo summary below:
Kill the first boss (down in first courtyard) for his key. Get him to a relatively remote spot because he'll call nearby frineds during the fight.
Slealth to the middle of the next courtyard (to the west) and open the chest for the second key.
Go through the west door and wait for the floating eye, and kill it before it summons mobs.
Stealth to bottom of hall and kill the bugs. Wait for second floating eye and kill it.
Stealth up ramp to second door. Kill guards and go through door.
Stealth to the front of the circle where king and his punk healer are waiting. Kill the mastif patrol.
If you can down the boss without killing his healer, good for you. I typically kill the healer first.
Loot and talk to the friendly ogre who tells you that you are now king. Talk to him again so that the tribute chest appears then loot.
There is a drunk ogre in the first courtyard that turns into a friendly vendor. You can sell your trash there and buy booze.
Contrats you are the king of your own instance.
lol theres no one here
On my latest trips to DM, I've found the Maul area covered in herbs - dreamfoil, mountain silversage, even some black lotus... Is there something you do in the DM instances to trigger the herbs to spawn, or are they on a timer like the arena bosses themselves?
There are bosses that spawn in here, the one I know of is a dragon called The Razza. They aren't that hard to kill (5 man) and they drop some really nice BOE blues.
Not to sound like a newbie but where do i go to complete this quest?
Why this link is here, if it contains nothing O.o

Dungeon Set 2
is aquired through a fairly lengthy, somewhat difficult and expensive quest chain through which you upgrade
Dungeon Set 1
which is one part of the chain, you will recieve
The manual describes where the brazier can be used to summon a variety of bonus bosses with rare loot in the following dungeons:
BRAZIER OF INVOCATION: USER'S MANUAL - Where to find Haunted Loci
"The open-aired chamber where
resides is one of these haunted loci."
"Should you seek to raise the echo of Mor Grayhoof's spirit,
's chamber is a haunted location."
appears after defeating
"Thus it is that another of these haunted loci is The Crimson Throne (
's room) inside The Scarlet Bastion at Stratholme."
's chamber one of the haunted locations where the brazier can be successfully utilized."
"As you must know, this makes Lord Valthalak's abode, what is now
's chamber in Blackrock Spire, the last of the haunted locations."
Despite how Wowhead says 44-54, the dungeon requires 45 to enter. Just took a 44 there and had that message appear :)
