This first thing that hit me, apart from the rather nasty hi-speed damage, was their size. I spotted the cave on the map, went there looking (rather fruitlessly) for some ore and came face to face with a cat as tall as my character. The paws alone are almost as big as my Paladin's upper body.
They also deal bleeding damage and they look like they are trying to eat your head when they do that move. Impressive beasts and a nice suprise to anyone not expecting them.

Picked this pet up and wish I could have gotten it back at level 10. By far I believe the best cat in the game. The looks are very nice and the speed damage is awesome, I added cat reflex on him and he hits crazy fast.
Working great in PVP.

You guys do know that all cats, aside from abilities they teach and aesthetics, are the same since 2.0 patch? One cat can no longer have a faster or slower attack speed than another cat, unless you teach them the enhanced attack speed ability or through talents.
Edit: One Exception: Bangalash comes with Cobra Reflexes.

maybe this question is a little bit stupid but i'm really confused with this problem... if i get this cat as my pet.. i wont have problems teaching "him" prowl, dash, claw, and all that right? they give me the cat with the 350 TP?..

as far as i know, that from patch 2.3 the droprate for Knothide leather is now 100% and also the Blackwind Sabercat no longer drops knothide leather scraps
i now have skinned more than 150 of those cats and i also got the same amount of Knothide leather.

IMHO these cats were made for a BM raiding hunter. When you tame them they have no skills at all so you can teach them i think 3 attacks (claw, bite, can't think of a 3rd) and your cat will be doing huge dps and will always be hitting nicely if you have bestial discipline and go for the throat.

They are pvp pets for hunters at lvl 70.

Ok, I have run around a long time looking lol. How exactly do you get to this area on the map?

I actually got up there without a flying mount. I went to 51.83 in Terokkar Forest where the elite spider Terokkarantula is located. I ran behind him until the zone changed to Skettis Mountains. I then let him kill me. When I released my spirit I was up in mountians.
I did try this once before and failed. I think while the trantula was killing me I either moved myself or was struck out of position. So I went back to make sure.
Even with rez sickness I was able to tame just using a freeze trap.

Your cat will get training points equal to that of it's level every time it reaches a higher level of happiness. How do you guys not know this? A level 70 cat has the potential of ALOT of points. Now, he'll start out with a negative number when he's mad at you, but this goes away. Do I have to tell you guys how to make your pet happy too? Or did you not figure that one out after months online.

Thottbot
Actually he will have the same amout of talent points after he becomes best friend as a pet you get at level 40 and level to 70.

Thottbot
wow hes right you do not need a flying mount to get here.. just go to 51.83 behind the elite spider.. where it says skettis mountins or what ever. then let the spider kill you.. and your up =)
happy hunting!

I tamed this pet - and YES, I can assure you it WILL gain loyalty - it just takes a LOOONG time.
I got online with a GM after a few hours of grinding and here is the quote:
"While I cannot get into the exact mechanics of pet loyalty, I assure you that the mechanics are working for the pet you have chosen. Please note that pets at higher levels are more stubborn than lower level pets."
After some more grinding I finally hit loyalty level 2 and received 70 training points.
This cat hits like a mack truck - I had several "Kill" commands top 1100. I taught him bite and dash (growl or course) and gave him Natural Armor 4 before the points ran out - his armor is at 10100 or so. His health is 5600 which I will boost with new skills as the points become available.
His stats are not all that different than my boar and his DPS is much higher. This is my new pet for all occasions.
Hope this helps - hang in there and he WILL gain loyalty.

Being a Cat his base stats are of course no differant than any other cat. However It was probably just chance but I sear He was Criting More.
He Gains Loyalty at a normal rate. Lack of XP Gaindoes not change the rate of loyalty Gain. I think unless you have taimed a creature at 68 or 69 it is easy to forget ow slow it goes. You have to imagine that if he did have xp it be about 200,000 give or take so a point is gained every 25% or so of that total. An estimated guess of how much XP would be given from enemies will give a bit of insight into his loyalty gain. I tamed a 69 warp stalker and it took close to the same amount of time.

Quote from Petopia now stfu.
"Pets gain training points based on their loyalty and level. The actual formula is (level)*(loyalty-1). This means that a Loyalty 6 Level 60 pet will have 300 training points total, and a Loyalty 6 level 70 pet will have 350 training points total"
70x5 = 350.

When I train a new pet I have him do all the work fighting and it seems to get the loyalty to level faster. It could be just me.
I have it attack and then just auto attack so the mob dies the slowest by my attack.
I usually have 2 stacks of food at all times but during training I carry 3.

I found a 70 just on the north side of the mountain they are on, tamed it, then ran Durn where his loyality went up a couple, then SV where he went up a couple again and was at rank 5 by the end of the day, next day while doing some farming he hit rank 6.
Hes a great pet and i'm BM specs.

ok all..I stumbled upon these guys doing a bombing quest for sky guard...you can only access these guys by fly in only...they are right next to shadowmoon valley..these cats are level 70-71...they are in the skethyl mountians loc 69.66..you have to fly up a good distance to find the Blackwind Sabercat...I tamed it with one ice trap...which I was surprised thats all it took...my new pet really works well for my level 70 hunter...He started out with the same armor that my level 70 ravager had after haveing the ravager for 10 levels..I'm real happy with this cat..And his distinct black and white coat makes him blend in real well while hunting,so hes hard to see.Good Luck...
p.s. If you cant find them on my server feel free to contact me and I'll take you to where they are..I'm on the Shattered Hand server and my name is Splatter

Capped this cat tonight after a chat with a hunter friend, based on my build at this time (
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Burning+Steppes&n;=Batuo
)
it has the following stats:
http://phorce.co.uk/wow/cat.JPG
This is without spending any training points on the cat.
My regular pet is shown below so you can compare:
http://phorce.co.uk/wow/owl.JPG
I was prepared for a long long grinding session with the cat but I took it to farm heavy clefthoof leather outside Telar in Nagrand and was very surprised at the fact it took no more than 90 mins to get it to level its loyalty, and also surprised that it got 70 points at its first "ding", you cant see the points on the owl but she only has 2 left to spend.
Capping the cat was also very easy (with flying mount), I flew right to the edge of the mountain, dropped a freeze trap and took a few steps back, the trap had about 4 seconds left and the cat was tamed, didnt need to fire any shots at all.
Hope this is of use to you folks wanting to cap this beast.

Level 70 Night Elf Hunter, BM
These guys were all over where marked on the map above. Mostly level 70, and a few level 71. He resisted my freeze trap but did not break taming, I had 25% HP once tamed. His stats are considerably higher than the 69 Ripfang Lynx I tamed a couple of days ago.

I've played a Hunter since game release so would like to share a little known secret...how to get your pet to gain loyalty quickly.
The trick is that you MUST melee a mob at least green to YOU. Do not do any ranged damage...melee only.
Your pet must be attacking the mob as well.
Takes about an hour or so of constant grinding to go from loyalty level 1 to 6.

Hop on your flying mount. Head to Legion Hold across from Shadow moon Village. Go to coords 20,40. Fly straight up, looking due East. Once you hit the top of the mountains, you can see a bunch of the cats. If you don't have a flying mount, do the death by spider thing.

You dont need a flying mount at all to tame one of these guys just go ahead and do the tip with letting the spider kill you spawn at the skettis graveyard then just run to 73 73 and u can run up into the back by the cave and you will start to see these guys there were 4 outside one 70 the others were 71s but you would just have to run into the cave to find a 70 if there arent any outside to tame... good luck hope it helps

I was told that his attack speed is 2.0 but no.. his attack speed is only 1.67 after I tamed the exact one near the mountains...

these cats have 2.0 attack speed, which imo, makes Humar the pridelord (lvl 24 rare from barrens) and the white version of him (donno the name) and broken tooth, much better pets... since they have 1.0 and 1.03 AS, but those are all low lvl, so unless you like lvling pets or catch them when you're @ that lvl yourself it can be a drag, I lvled Humar from 24 to 60, gonna lvl him 60-70 soon... cause its worth it, but the smartest thing to do is to get it right away when you're lvl 23 (for humar and the white one I guess) and 37 for broken tooth...
