Interview on Burning Crusade Classic
One of Brian's most memorable moments was talking about the tornadoes in Nagrand Arena, discussing whether the team should bring them back or not for Classic. While the tornadoes were removed quickly in the original Burning Crusade, the team decided to leave them in for all of Arena Season 1 because they were so memorable.
Season 3 saw some items restricted in Arena
, such as
, among others. Blizzard did want the meta to shift somewhat from season to season, even though the game was locked into patch 2.4.3 balance.
Season 3 also increased the matchmaking window
. Blizzard looked at the average time waiting for queue and average match length, and realized that players were waiting for games longer than they were playing. As a solution, Blizzard broadened the matchmaking window, to address this issue.
Quality of Life Changes
Season 3 saw massive improvements in regards to quality of life for PvP
. Reducing the cost of gear, changing token turn-ins for Arena Season 2 gear, increasing honor values from quests, and so on. Blizzard made these changes to help players "get their foot in the door" and make it more accessible.
- Blizzard has seen a lot of feedback from players in regards to Arena teams not being a great thing to bring back, and preferring personal rating. Blizzard wasn't surprised to see this feedback, because it was originally removed based on player feedback.
Classic Esports Event
- Brian hinted toward another possible tournament around the same time
is released. Meaning during the next phase of TBC (with
) we could see another event.
