Drops from Al'ar in the Tempest Keep instance.
Buffed in 2.1. Old stats were:
Equip: Improves spell critical strike rating by 30.
Equip: Increases healing done by spells and effects by up to 73.
Equip: Restores 8 mana per 5 sec.
It's interesting seeing items with healing and spell critical outside of plate.
Goes nicely with
As a Paladin healer, If the Resto Shammy in my raid didnt take this I would definatly bid on it. That spl crit is hawt.
Why is there so much Shaman itemization in TK with spell crit on it? As far as I know the only benefit from crit Shaman have is Ancestral Fortitude, which is hardly worth itemizing for. This should be plate.
This now resembles T5.
As a healer you should not be relying on crits to fill your targets health bars. Paladins benefit from crit since it is their primary form of mana regeneration. Shamans primary form of mana regeneration is MP5, therefore they should stack that stat accordingly.
If your guild can down Al'ar, then you should be able to clear ZA which drops
which my opinion the spell haste can help and it has more healing and mp5.
Part of the Tier 5 look-alike 'set'.

Not sure why there is a conception that shamans do not benefit from spell crit, do any of you play them? There is of course the obvious additions to healing from chain heal.
The buff from the increased armor is not a minor thing, but the main reason is this: Earth Shield.
It is a little spell that has the same spell crit and coefficient as the shaman who cast it *at the time they cast it* This is very important as a resto shaman can pop a +healing trinket (like zalandar for +400 healing) and maybe even be grouped with an elemental to cast the initial earth shield. The shield will crit at the rate of the time it was cast. No need to reply on crits, but a 30%+ crit rate allows earth shield to be vastly more effective.
if this drops and there is a resto shammy and a holy pally in the raid shammy gets first shot at it then pally since that is the only classes that can utilize this item.
with these stats it is obvious that this should go to a hunter to buff up mend pet
this going to a hunter would help out the raid more than to a resto shammy so shammys hands off :)
Dammmm, thats one nice healing plate for holy pallys like me =P
Too bad getting myself attuned for this seems impossible o.o
This chest drops from phoenix Al'ar in the Eye (dropped for Forte).
Damn nice freaking resto shaman chestplate. Would want one of those on my shaman
If you roll on this as a hunter you are %^&*ing &*!@#$ed.
It's kinda sad that this piece is not as good as the Earthblood Chestguard from Netherspite (Karazhan). Extra crit is nice, but the price is way too steep - 4 stam, 7 int, 5 +healing, and 1 MP5. Especially problematic are the int and MP5. Resto shammies are constantly struggling with mana shortages, so this would really hurt to give up. As a side note, the T4 chest (cyclone) is also not as good as the Earthblood ... gonna have to wait for T5 to upgrade.
