Welcome to Wowhead's Best in Slot Gear list from Phase 5 Sunwell Plateau for Priest Healing in The Burning Crusade Classic. This guide will list the recommended gear for Priest Healing to acquire while they progress during the fifth and final phase of The Burning Crusade Classic, which contains gear sourced from Sunwell Plateau, Zul'Aman, Black Temple, and Mount Hyjal, plus other pieces from previous phases like Serpentshrine Cavern, Tempest Keep, heroic dungeons, arena PvP Gear, professions, BoE World Drops, and reputations.
Best In Slot Gear for Priest Healing in Phase 5
Healer gearing always heavily depends on playstyle, situation, and raid environment, so treat the BiS list below as a guideline rather than a gospel.
Unlike the previous phases, the only slots that are really up for debate in Phase 5 are the profession-related items. While Enchanting and Engineering are still solid choices, Alchemy and Tailoring have some new crafted options that can make those two professions worth considering.
As the actual BiS is fairly straightforward, the only thing that's really arguable is how to gem it. Although there are many different ways to gem in Phase 5, opting for a +healing setup and downranking properly (CoH 4, Renew 10, FH8) will likely be the way to go for most players in

, as it provides more sustain than spirit-heavy gemming when used correctly and also allows for upranking when needed to match the throughput of haste-heavy gemming. However, if you're certain mana is absolutely not an issue, you can choose to primarily gem

while activating your metagem through two purple gems.
The same concept holds true for trinket choices in Phase 5. Unlike the other healer classes, Priests have access to several incredibly strong sustain trinkets, such as

, which is why it's going to be hard to justify using anything other than two regeneration trinkets until the content is on farm, and most likely even afterwards.
However, if you're playing Discipline, it's actually viable to keep using your four-piece

in Sunwell. While you do miss out on a decent amount of haste and have lower healing on all other spells, the remaining stats are all fairly close to the ones of the regular set, and you gain 273/346/368 HPS on
8/10/12, which is pretty significant as it's your most used spell. Another benefit is the fact that it's a lot easier to assemble, as most priests have the full T5 set by now, and the Sunwell cowl, shawl, and robes are all fairly close in value, so you can pick any of them as your off-piece.

Should Priest Healing Choose Aldor or Scryer for BiS in TBC Classic Phase 5?
Although the

, the choice between

is fairly unimportant for healers, as both

are virtually identical to the Aldor enchant in terms of value.
The choice technically also affects whether

will proc a healing power buff (35 to 41 HEP) or a direct heal (11 to 13 raw HPS) on your target in Phase 5, but as you likely already have

by now, this is also not really impactful.
In conclusion, if you care about the slight stat advantage, you should opt for the Aldor, but if you'd like to choose the Scryers, you should go for it, as the shoulder enchant won't ever make a noticeable difference.

Best in Slot Head Armor for Priest Healing in TBC Classic Phase 5
Given it's a Kil'jaeden drop,
Cowl of Light's Purity
is by far the strongest option in this slot and significantly better than any alternative, as well as relatively uncontested.
While it's not anywhere as powerful as the Cowl,
Powerheal 9000 Lens
is a solid placeholder option if you have Engineering and happen to come across the pattern.

is an incredible ring that will be highly sought after by most healers. Since it has a good amount of healing power combined with decent sustain stats, as well as nearly 2% haste, and is also not unique, you won't replace it with anything else until the next expansion.
Unless you've been lucky enough to already have two Blessed Bands at this point, you'll want to craft or buy a
Ring of Flowing Life
, since it's just as good as the Blessed Band and also BoE.
Signet of the Quiet Forest
and
Band of Lucent Beams
are slightly worse versions of the Blessed Band, so they're decent placeholders.

Essence of the Martyr
remains the best option for throughput, and can be combined with
Direbrew Hops
on bosses for which you don't need any mana regeneration trinkets. They both have 133.5 average healing power, assuming the encounter is over right as the cooldown ends, meaning realistically they can be worth even more than that on a given fight.
Memento of Tyrande
has 118 static healing power and 15.2/16.3/17.5 average MP5 at 24/30/40 CPM, respectively. Due to Direbrew Hops being available earlier than expected, it's a rather unimportant upgrade unless you missed out on the Brewfest. While it's certainly better in terms of value, the main use case for throughput trinkets is encounters on which you aren't struggling with mana at all, or at least not enough to warrant using a regeneration trinket, so having an additional 15.2 to 17.5 MP5 isn't really spectacular.
Eye of Gruul
is a good option for any situation in which you are mainly casting Circle of Healing as the 2% proc chance is per target hit, not per cast. This means on encounters that primarily consist of CoH spam, the trinket can technically be worth up to 140-145 MP5 on average, therefore it's solid for the majority of the T6 trash, and also most T6 boss encounters. While that value is fairly unrealistic for most fights, around 30 to 40% CoH usage is when EoG will generally provide more value than Blue Dragon, though you can also combine them, of course.
Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon
is not quite as good as Eye of Gruul for CoH-heavy bosses, but still provides a decent amount of MP5 even when you are mainly casting single-target heals. With T6 BiS gear (assuming T5 4P set), it's worth 54/66/86 MP5 on average with 24/30/40 casts per minute, respectively, regardless of what spells you are casting specifically.
Redeemer's Alchemist Stone
has 119 static healing power and averages out to about 40 MP5 if you're using potions on cooldown. While that's still not quite as much as BD or EoG regenerate, the fact that you don't have to rely on procs for the extra sustain, as well as the extra healing power on this trinket make it another great option in Phase 5.

Glimmering Naaru Sliver
has 119 static healing power and about 33 MP5 on average. The fact that the regeneration is entirely frontloaded could allow for some niche uses, but other than that, the long channel duration makes it a questionable choice on most bosses, despite it going down to around 6 seconds in full haste gear.

Like in the previous phases, the new mainhand
Hammer of Sanctification
reigns supreme when combined with the Sunwell Plateau offhand drop. Keep in mind that it'll be heavily contested by all healers in your raid due to being a mace.
Golden Staff of the Sin'dorei
is only slightly worse (~20 HEP) than the Kil'jaeden mace combination, and given it's a staff, it's most likely the Sunwell weapon we'll end up with. Despite that, it's still an amazing weapon and technically even better than the Hammer of Sanctification if you do not have the new offhand as well.
While
Crystal Spire of Karabor
is inferior to the two previously listed weapons when it comes to overall value, the fact that the proc happens precisely when the extra healing is needed makes it a much more competitive option than simple HEP comparisons make it out to be. This doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't go for a Phase 5 weapon, but it's simply something to keep in mind when comparing the three options.

As always, the wand upgrade is very straightforward. In exchange for a small amount of Stamina, you gain some extra healing, haste rating, and even a socket, while your regeneration stays the same, so there is no reason to use anything other than

. For once, this is actually not a shadow damage wand, so you don't have to worry about using up
stacks if you ever end up wanding.
