In PVE? Doesnt matter as much, which fury warrior are known to excel at.
MS Warrior in PVP? Hell yeah it matters. No good PVP warrior goes without tactical mastery.
Example: When you fight a rogue you switch to Battle stance and take less dmg while using overpower/rend on the sucker. Switch to berserker when you want to intercept his ass when he tries to run helplessly away and switch back to battlestance once you hamstring him.

I agree with Ailinel in that it does spice up some otherwise mundance situations.
Stance dancing itself is largely misunderstood by the general populace & the fact you change stance is actually just an indirect result of a philosophy, which I will summarize personally as follows:
To accomplish a complete understanding of one's abilities by reaching to all corners of the table to fully envelope the furtherance of progression as it concerns your character's role (be it PVE or PVP).
What this means is that in essence, stance dancing is simply a term for "shuffling" yourself from one stance to another.
The actual purpose behind stance dancing is to make use of all abilities. A classic example of this is switching to Defensive stance in order to Disarm an opponent in PVP. Another example would be changing into Battle stance to force a Mocking Blow. The list goes on.
To say one is an incompetent player would be folly; the fact a player does not know, or does not choose, to fully use all of their available skills only shows ignorance and lack of necessity -- people do what works. If they don't have to stance dance, they probably won't & if they never bother to learn, they probably won't.

If you don't have a fear ward you have to stance dance on things that cast fear. Everyone should know how to do it regardless if you always a have a priest or not.
PvE, as fury I go into battle stance to TC if the tank can't do it.

The reason people don't always pick up on such a seemingly obvious tactic (to us, who have played for a reasonable amount of time) is due to objectivity. People are very objective in what they do & this increases as they learn one thing vs. another.
As you start the game, your sole purpose is to bash heads with Heroic Strike in Battle stance. As you progress through the game you gain new stances which you must learn to utilize. This itself is the actual learning curve for the class. Players are so used to doing things in the "known" way that they often "forget" to make use of thinking "outside the box". A primary example of this is fighting in Battle stance for 30 levels, then all of a sudden you have Berserker stance...which has very few moves (even worse from 30-40 as you have no Mortal Strike or Bloodthirst).
When you view it from this perspective, it becomes quite clear just how far away a level 30 is from level 70 in terms of character progression.

This is rather baseless. At least state reasons for your opinions.
As for my opinion? Mostcompetitive e-sports allow use of what is essentially a "macro" in Warcraft & is hardly any different.
Back on topic, the only macro I really ever found myself using was a Charge / Intervene / Intercept macro that changes stance based on whether or not you're in combat and/or whether your target is friendly or hostile.
I don't need a macro to "change to defensive stance & disarm"...the game gives you keybinds to a stance bar by default & I use them (though on different keys, hehe). Related topic:

You can bind all 4 actions to 4 different keys, but that means 4 less keys to bind other spells. Less key to press= less reaction time needed and more keys for other spells/macro. Wouldn't it be cool to write a macro to do your job for you and lets you sit at home and play WOW? End of story.
