The info may be obvious but people fall for it every day. Otherwise they wouldn't bother.

Unsolicited emails are illegal? Phishing is illegal, but I wasn't aware of the fact that I couldn't send an email without someone asking for one.

I myself recently got one of these phishing emails. The address it was sent to when i hit respond(because i just ignored this until i read this thread) was @blizzrrd.com. And its actually very hard to notice its a second R rather than an A when just quickly responding. So maybe its just people assuming that the original address they see in the email is the one that it will be sent to. So the Golden rule is if its from "Blizzard" contact a GM in game about it and discuss whether the questions pertaining to the subject are what they normally ask. But just remember if it asks you to verify your password, secret question and answer, and your email address chances are its a fake. And always make sure of the address when you hit respond.

I find it highly amusing a gold farmer posted in the e-mail phishing thread.
And back on topic, whenever I receive any unsolicited communication from "Blizzard", I just send an friendly in-game ticket to ask if it's legit first. Only had to do it once, thankfully.

Organizing an attempt to flood an email account is an attempt to generate a DoS attack, which is illegal. Whether a bunch of bots running on infected computers, or a group of people doing it manually - the result is an attempt at DoS.
Sending you an email is not illegal. Arranging for your mailbox to have 10,000 emails and for an email server to bog down and/or be hosed, that is illegal.
Yea, because 20,000 people are reading this thread and will take my advice, all instantaneously. I'm not organizing a DoS attack, I'm organizing an annoyance. Seems fitting: phisher annoys me, I annoy phisher.

Then you would be a co-conspirator in an illegal activity.
Seriously, get a clue. If I had told someone to use his/her illegal bot network to spam the !@#$%^&, then yes, I would be a co-conspirator. Suggesting that a few people send some ^&*!@#$ an email is far from illegal.
