Another good rogue ability also used in stunlocks. usually combined with Cheap Shot and Gouge to never get hit. A simple stunlock but short stunlock without any talents would be Cheap Shot, Sinister Strike, and Kidney Shot but as you get more talent points they will differ and become more complex.

This is a great move for rogues who want the casters not to cast, Just get a lot of points then use it then they are stunned and hit them with all you have, I love this attack against attackers in PvP

Improved kidney shot gives +9% damage and find weaknesses gives +10% damage...19% damage is a niiice damage buff for any type of rogue.

(mix those with opportunity while using mutilate on a poisoned target and you get a +89% damage increase to the default damage of mutilate)

Of course, this is a key skill to be used in stunlocking (beware the cooldown,though)

One of the most annoying abilities in existence. If you find a rogue that has Cheap Shotted you, you know FOR SURE that Kidney Shot is coming, as a normal rogue would do for a stunlock. If you have any stun removing items/abilities, use it when the rogue Kidney Shots you, because then the rogue will have no more stuns and you can counterattack.

If You really want to $%^& someone off try to catch them with insignia on CD (if they use it fun is usually over and you have to fight fair and square :) and use the macro below:

Taking under consideration the racials ,class, 5% base resist, talents... that combo will more then likely fail at some point, but when it doesn't you just played someone for araund 100 sec xD thats 1 minute 40 sec and soon your blind will be off CD ;)

Of course allot things may go wrong, mage blink (shs and clos will help), locks lolcoil (shs and clos can help...), wars shouts (insignia), priests scream, BM hunter - no chance and other things like war stomp or a hammer of a 5 sec stun, ice block, bubble fct... (shammans are usually screwed unless you started when they were in GW -.-)

You have to be sure that the DR had the 15 sec to reset - it means that your opponet will have many 0.5 - 1 sec "windows" to use the "OH #%#$ button" - try to foresee it ;)

Its unlikely that your opponent is dead after that 100 sec. In the "whatever" part you blow sprint, evasion, clos, and other tools that will assure You will cannibalize his corps or /lol at him (if you have picked wrong char and can be killed ;)

I asumed that:
Sap and Gouge share DR, CH and KS also do share them, and blind is on separate timer from both...

Play with deadlines and cheat death or other sub talents to tune it to your gameplay.

This is best used in combination with relentless strikes (11 point talent in Assassination tree) and full energy. When you pop a 5 point kidney shot on someone with 110 energy, thats 6 seconds of full on Hemo's. All in all, it comes down to this.

You get 110 base energy with 4 piece PvP gear, and 60 energy regeneration from the 6 seconds of stun.

(110 + 60) / 35 = 4 (sometimes if timed right, 5) hemos

With this and your normal strikes, it should be able to burst down most opponents and if not completely kill, should at least be able to get the opponent below 25%, putting them under enormous pressure and making it easy for you to bleed kite or just hemo to finish them off.

So the two most common attack choices I use are the following:

1) Cheapshot, Kidney Shot, then get 5 combo points. Wait until you get all your energy back and your Kidney Shot CD to wear off, then Kidney Shot and burst them down.

2) Cheapshot, get 5 combopoints, wait for energy, then kidney and burst.

The first attack plan is all around well planned and can be used against most classes. The second one I usually use against Mages because their Blink gets pesky. I usually wait for their Blink then I Shadowstep and then Kidney Shot them. So your sequence would look like this:

Cheapshot, get 5 combo points, wait for the Blink, Shadowstep, Kidneyshot, burst.

If the Mage decides not to blink, then simply run around them and just beat the crap outta them.

Now on other notes, this plan may get risky against Mortal Strike Warriors because with their Second Wind talent, all your stuns may backfire on you. Now I know this has nothing to do with Kidney Shot, but this is what I use against warriors in general, assuming if you have crippling on offhand weapon:

Premeditation, Shadowstep, Garrote, Shiv, Rupture, PvP Trinket (if he hamstrung you), then sprint away around a corner or something.

This entire post was made based on the build 20/0/41 Shadowstep PvP build. If you are Mutilate specced, you can still pull off most of these combos anyway, just insert Mutilate for Hemo and Sprint for Shadowstep.

So I just realized that the icon is a fist punching almost like an uppercut, but low enough to hit the kidneys.

I really really thought the icon was a kidney. I have been playing this game since the November it came out.

just wondering if anyone knows a macro for a low level rogue to equip your dagger on your main hain, use this then have backstab ready and put your regualr weapon back on after.

If anyone knew how to do that, it'd be awesome.

Switching weapons isn't restricted BY the global cooldown, but whenever you do switch it will cause your global cooldown to activate for your other abilities, so you can do it but you should try to always use an ability *before* your weapon switch, or you'll waste 1 second of combat waiting for your GCD.
Note that I wouldn't recommend using Backstab after a KS, as you'd be better served usually by using a more energy-efficient ability to build combo points while your target is stunned. However, switching to a dagger to backstab--and then back to original MH--after using Gouge is very handy.

NOTES:
*YourDaggerNameHere, YourOriginalMainHandNameHere: position the cursor at this point in your macro and Shift+left-click on the weapon you want to add, and it will automatically enter the correct item name, preventing possible spelling errors.

this macro has the following functionality:

It will ALWAYS:
1) cast Kidney Shot if it is not cooling down
2) cast Backstab if you have a dagger equipped and Kidney Shot is not cooling down

If you hold Shift while activating it:
1) will also switch your mainhand weapon (non-dagger) to your dagger of choice if you do not currently have a dagger there, even if neither Kidney Shot nor Backstab have been used.
2) will also switch your mainhand weapon (if dagger) to your mainhand weapon of choice

IMPORTANT: you have to press this macro twice to achieve the functionality you want. Holding Shift and pressing once will cast Kidney shot and equip your dagger; 1 second later you can hold Shift and press it again to cast Backstab and automatically re-equip your original mainhand, or leave out Shift if you want to Backstab more than once or otherwise don't want to switch your dagger back out.

If you want to try the Gouge tactic I mentioned, just change "Kidney Shot" to "Gouge". Happy hunting.

6 seconds duration (at 5cp) and 20 seconds cooldown.
that means 6/20 = 30% uptime of stun from this ability alone, if you can build up another 5cp in the remaining 19 seconds. which you can.

easy to understand why rogues love this.
a stunned opponent is under your control, and control is what makes good rogues win pvp fights.

So I was questing in Zul'Drak the other night, killing Frozen Earth elementals and sealing Elemental Rifts. Not for the first time I noticed that Kidney Shot worked really well on both - and not for the first time I was amazed by the rogue's ability to find kidneys in even the most unlikely places/life forms. Master of Anatomy my behind!

Does KS get affected by the Subtlety mastery rating (Executioner)? It says on the tooltip that the mastery rating "increases the damage done by your finishing moves, and the effectiveness of your Slice and Dice". KS isn't a direct damage finishing move, so I would presume it doesn't get affected at all?

With a combat rogue's Revealing Strikes, a 5 combo point Kidney Shot can stun the target up to 8+ seconds (without DR or reduced stun duration effects)
this is great in PvP so that when you get a opponent in a bad situation,(no cooldowns or trinkets) you can use this with Adrenaline Rush to deal massive amounts of damage

Interestingly, the "Modified by" tab does not include Revealing Strike, which increases Kidney Shot's duration by 2 seconds @ 5 combo points.

Since the Timeless Isle opened up I'm seeing erratic behavior from kidney shot that I don't recall ever having seen before. About half the time, with a full stack of combo points, my kidney shot doesn't last anywhere near 6 seconds -- I'm guessing I may get 2.5 to 3 seconds max before my target is back in attack mode.

Has anyone else seen this?

EDIT: It seems this _may_ be an issue of diminishing returns.
