While the "Power Word" would indicate usage by discipline priests, it looks like this may be a type of Telluric Currents/Lightning Bolt for both priest healing specs.

i want to ask if power word solace will have cooldown and how it looks when attacking. did the cast reduced with the haste you got. did have cast like when using mount?

Though I haven't taken Priest to a very high level, in mid level (40-50) this seems much less useful than the other obvious talent for healers Surge of Light, seeing as the mana regen is tiny, and if you're looking to deal damage smite has such a tiny mana cost it's all but free.

On a whim, I tried spamming this while I had Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest equipped.

The duplicate spell seems to proc very infrequently at level90, but every time it does, it IS giving the mana regen proc a second time as well.

Switching to Dragonwrath cut the damage on PW:Solace from about 17,000pts to 15,000pts at my current gear level but if your goal is mana regeneration, macro it to a weapon swap and grab those extra few blips.

With its short cast time, this spell is amazing, considered that various factors caused Mindbender to hardly be fully utilized (ie, initial mob died, break between pulls, forgot to use...etc)

However, in progression content, sometime there just isn't enough time to cast this to make it on par with Mindbender. :(

would welcome the mana regen increase to around 0.9% or so.

for Holy, Discipline Priest, Solace and Insanity replaces Holy Fire with Power Word: Solace. improvements:

increase chance to hit with Power Word: Solace by 15%.

Glyph of Holy Fire increases the range of Power Word: Solace by 10 yards;
cause Smite do additional 20% damage to targets afflicted by Power Word: Solace's 7 sec DoT

can be considered as the resources for Discipline Priest, one can have 5 stacks of max.
it generate by (those all: heal 1 friendly target for 90% of the damage (Atonement); each stacks of increases damage and healing by 4% and reduces mana cost by 6%):

Smite (+1)
Holy Fire / Power Word: Solace (+1)
Penance (+1; each Smite reduce its CD by 0.5 sec)

when and only when Priest have at least 1 stacks of , this spell can be cast to consume all stacks of :

Archangel (increase healing by 5% each stacks of consumed for 18 sec)

Holy Priest have , but have neither Atonement to heal while damaging, nor Archangel to consume stacks of .
enter Chakra: Chastise increase Power Word: Solace's damage by 50%.

for Shadow Priest, Solace and Insanity causes Devouring Plague to trigger on the target by 6 sec, increases damage of Mind Flay by 33% for each Shadow Orbs (3 max) consumed.

Simple Macro to allow you to MT Heal and have a Solace target without changing targets

Simply use /focus to set a focus target, mainly the MT and use

From the Patch 5.2 PTR Notes:

Power Word: Solace has been redesigned.

Power Word: Solace replaces Holy Fire. It deals the same damage and interacts with other spells and abilities in the same manner, but is instant, costs no mana, and restores 1% of maximum mana on each cast.

I've been using this to make sure I always hit PW: S when it's available, seems to be working well:

Combine this with Glyph of Smite and you've got a pretty good combination. Add in Glyph of Holy Fire for more range.

If you chose the talent, you don't have to change your macros. /cast Holy Fire will cast Power Word: Solace.
