After a lot of experience using Разрывающий выстрел in a variety of situations, with comparisons to Топот, you only really want to use Разрывающий выстрел on single target boss fights in raids. Топот is the far better choice for Dungeons, especially Mythic+, and for world quests/PVE. The biggest unfortunate aspect in selecting this talent is that, if you are killing multiple targets (trash for instance) and one dies, and Dire Frenzy is your next ability in your rotation, it WILL NOT cast until you use a different command on the target first.

This advice is honestly best for situations where you can't change your talents out (already in an instance). You can bind a pet attack macro to your Dire Frenzy to begin the attack. If you are already attacking and you hit Разрывающий выстрел, the macro just casts the spell , but if you are initiating an attack, it will allow your Dire Frenzy to immediately cast, instead of doing nothing due to non-specific targeting by Dire Frenzy itself. Still though, using Разрывающий выстрел instead of Топот in situations with multiple targets significantly lowers your overall AOE dps.

For BfA, they replaced Dire Frenzy with Barbed Shot, for all those confused by the comments here.

I need more haste... a lot of it...

Anyone have a working WA string for this ability? The CURRENT link here on wowhead for the weakaura doesn't work right. Can have up to 3 stacks, but the icon vanishes if you use a second+ barbed shot.

What is the stacking mechanic of Barbed Shot? Is it better to cast your second BS just before the first one expires? Or is it better to get the stacks on as soon as it comes off cooldown? Is it worth keeping it on cooldown a few seconds if Bestial Wrath will be up soon?

Using barbed shot while not standing right on top of my target will cause my pet to attack even if it is on passive. If the pet is standing on top of it's target when I use barbed shot, it wont attack on passive.

30% attack speed amounts to either one or a couple more Pet attacks in the 8 seconds, per frenzy, and it doesnt really serve us to unload them all without some good agility/mastery procs to make use of the pet melee attacks we will gain
1 Overwhelming power = about 1-2 more atk per 10-15 second window , frenzy or not .

1 more second of frenzy (azerite trait) increases the amount of time that frenzies can overlap, and this can compensate for haste if you think pets auto attack (incl.with Companion!) is not benefiting from big attack power procs that you want them to benefit from, but disfavors the use of a 'reserve barbed shot' unless their duration will exceed a reserved 9 sec frenzy! , however, im not so sure this is the best choice if you are able to have 2-3 frenzy active when you are strongest (dance of death / cooldowns / trinket procs)
dance of death (agility worth 15-45% stronger base attacks; strong synergy with wrath/aspect!) proc tends to increase *after* the first barbed shot fired, and your pet (cleave/melee) will be able to carry our high crit %, and our fluctuating attack power to pump the DPS , provided the pet is attacking fastest when the agility (mastery too!) peaks the highest!

stacking /not stacking your barbs is basically the only control the hunter has to ride the RNG waves ! your pet attack do not increase the likelihood of procs so frenzies may be mismanaged if drained right away.
pay attention to procs that affect Agi,Haste,Crit and spend Barbs to make the most use of them!

the amount of beast cleave targets is also a decider and again, does not change the likelihood of procs.. for example, island expeditions - use your MD&Beam, then ms/cleave, hold maybe one frenzy for a good proc but use it liberally since packs tend to last less than 40- seconds and you want to end combat with no spare barbed shots left or wasted frenzy time

For BFA:

I'm not quite sure why no guide mention this, but the BLEED (aka, DOT on target) effect DOES NOT stack, nor refresh in a contagion manner (like Lock for example).

So any time you cast barbed shot, try to do so in a new target. Especially at high crit ratings (where is quite common to overcap) dont just spam barbed on the same mob hoping that all damage will stack, because it seems like it doesn't.

Every time you refresh barbed shot in a target, whenever there are any more targets availables, you are losing between 20 to 80% of the damage (less because every cast comes with a Stomp and BW CD reduction, but Barbed shoot's bleed damage is still a considerable damage source).

So in single target, just refresh it (don't overcap). But any time there is cleave or AoE situation, try to spread the bleed among many targets.

(Here I'm hoping to see some confirmation from more experienced people to see if this is true or not, because I'm quite puzzled that no written article mentions it)

NOTE:

This doesn't change the normal rotation you must do with barbed. Just that you should cast barbed in aditional targets instead of the same one if possible

If you want to track the Бешенство buff (that this spell gives to your pet) with WeakAura or TellMeWhen, use Spell ID 272790. And set the watched unit to be your "pet".

This ability has been severely nerfed in Midnight, no longer stacking up to 3 and no longer adding frenzy to your pet. After some testing I found it doing 30% less dps than Steady Shot (which it replaces!) and the proc on Dire Beast was too low to make up the difference. It's not worth taking anymore.
