By far one of the most annoying quests. Since these are STEALTHED you need to walk up and down the little creeks to find them. Good luck if someone else is doing the quest since you have no idea which area was cleared and which wasn't.

A trick is to listen to that stealthing sound when looking for them. Sometimes they're quite difficult to distinguish with the background and water.

I just did this quest today, and these Fen Creepers are found in the water channels of the Wetlands between The Sundown Marsh (where murlocs/giant crocolisks are) and The Green Belt (the area with the Greenwarden and eastward). I found the greater number of these in the shallow pool areas of the water channels.

At 63, 56 on the map you have 3-4 fenrunners to kill, and just west there are 2-3 fenrunner just outside of the camp. It took me 25 minutes( i was also killing crocolisk and mongril between spawns.) the fenrunners will take off at 10% but for anyone with any kind of ranged attack that's easily taken care of.

just walk in the middle of those little rivers and a fel creeper will attack you since they patrol the rivers

If you stick to the waterways in the saltspray glen you will find them all in a matter of minutes, i found none everywhere else in the wetlands, it is north of menthil harbor.

If you're a hunter, you can use track hidden to see them if you're close to them

Above is the link to the locations of these invisibles. Finding them isn't a problem when you know where to look!
Good luck! =)

If you want to find those mobs, here's a few tips that might help you.

-The mobs are invisible, therefor you might have to enter the water before you can spot them.
-You want to look in the riverends, not where the stream of water is thin.
- You want to look in the small ponds.

That's how I did, and that's where I found all 8 of them.
If your smar you might want to ask a warlock to buff you with detect invisibilty. If it works or not I can not say, but it makes sence that it would.
Also, if you travell further west you might end up with Fen Lords on your back. Those are level 26 and can hurt pretty badly for somebody who isn't prepared for it. They seem to make alot more damage than the creepers.

Also I must point out that blizzard has to love being cruel, why oh why did they have to make the water so deep you can't just run but you have to swim?

Hope it helps.

In the Wetlands there are rivers and ponds. You can find Fen Creepers in almost every pond. So follow the rivers from pond to pond and you'll do ok.

Takes under 15 minutes that way.

I'm in the process of doing this quest, probably for about the tenth time (with the tenth character) and I think I've found the method that works the best.

Get an engineer to come along and wear a set of Catseye Ultra Goggles. It works better than track stealth, and you MAY actually find them far enough in advance that you can get a charge in on them before they attack you.

Yet another use for engineering. :-)

Piece of cake, as druid just walked along the river from 46.27 to 48.37 in cat form and got the lot in about 10mins

There should be about one in every pool of water in the central wetlands.

They are easy enough to kill as long as you get the first hit...

I found this very easy as a Lvl 25 Gnome Rogue...
Just follow the small strands of creek from the Warden guy down to Sundown Marsh.
Although just be aware that you also may aggro a level 21+ Crocolisk ..as they hang around
the water. You will probably see through there stealth when you are about 10 yards away from the
actual Fen Creeper..

Hope it helped ;))

If you hate killing unnecessary mobs and you already did the crocolisk quests you're gonna hate this one. The crocolisks "stealth" in a way by going through all the god damned bushes and then jumps at you. Really great time sink.

EDIT: And on my computer all stealthed mobs/players are easier to spot. Somewhy they go totally solid when they get into sight range, then go transparent again. Hmm, weird.

These rewards are complete garbage.

The fen creepers are always in the water, never on dry land. So just jump into a random pool of swamp water, and you'll probably find one.

I was getting quite annoyed by being attacked by http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=1040 so i wanted to tell him off, but when i got this quest i realised. Rathiel is totally insane he knew that the gnolls would keep on spreading and he ran out of spongy morels. The best thing to do in that case was for Rathiel to make up a story about his kind being diseased, so that you would start wiping them out. Then he would collect their corpses and make more http://www.wowhead.com/?item=4606 for the quest rewards. Just guess where he got rewards to this quest from!

Just stay the **** away from that guy
