We released a lengthy post talking about the Cinematic Panel from Blizzcon 2016. On this panel, Blizzard devs go behind-the-scenes for iconic cinematics from Legion, such as the Broken Shore Campaign, Demon Hunter questlines, and Ysera's death and redemption.
You can watch the panel below!
Check out our liveblog from the panel last year!
October 30th, 2012 - Heart of Fear opens
The second raid of Mists of Pandaria opened on this day!
, located deep in the heart of the
, serves as a continuation of
storyline. After gathering a massive army, the paragons of the Klaxxi bring the fight to
Великая императрица Шек'зир
, whom they deemed no longer able to rule the mantid empire.
Heart of Fear is the first raid in Pandaria that dropped tier pieces, dropping the gloves, legs and chest for
. The helm and shoulder pieces would drop in
Терраса Вечной Весны
, that would release not long after.
After her defeat, Grand Empress Shek'zeer's soul was sent to the Shadowlands. During the Death Knight Class Campaign, the Knights of the Ebon Blade visit the Shadowlands and retrieve her essence as part of the ritual to invoke the new Four Horsemen.

The creater of one of the most memorable Blizzcon moments got a well-deserved homage ingame! Ian Bates, also known as the
Red Shirt Guy
, became famous after correcting Chris Metzen and Alex Afrasiabi on the 2010 Lore and Quests Q&A . His question involved the Wildhammer thane,
Фалстад Громовой Молот
, whom the developers believed to be dead. Ian corrected them by stating he did survive and was, in fact, the leader of Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands, from Vanilla to Wrath of the Lich King. You can watch it below:

A few days after the event, Falstad was given his righteous place on the Council of the Three Hammers in Ironforge, and beside him, appeared a dwarf wearing a red shirt: the
Знаток истории из клана Громового Молота
Since this event, the Red Shirt Guy appeared on every Blizzcon's Lore Panel with his iconic red shirt and always bringing some really deep questions for the devs. I wonder what will be his question this year?
Check out when we reported this!

An old favorite World of Warcraft site starts gaining traction as a database:
, the prime WoW Fishing database! El became quite famous as a fishing extraordinarie, even though the profession was never that popular. For those of us who love fishing, his was by far the best resource for anything fish related. El had the site since August 2006, but it started gaining more traction as fishing became a more important profession, coupled with massive buffs to Cooking foods that came with Burning Crusade.
El got a NPC homage in Mists of Pandaria:
, whom can be found fishing in places with active fishing migration. You can talk with
to learn where the fish are really biting, and El will be there.
The site went up going MIA in 2015, with El himself becoming inactive on all social networks. A reason for that was never confirmed, maybe he just really grew out of gaming. Hope you're doing well out there, El!

On this day, we had what was probably the most famous exploiting ban in the history of the game. The guild Overrated, the top US guild back in these years, was caught using model editing programs to remove
's platforms and create a way straight to
The trash between the
and C'Thun's was considered the worst part of Ahn'Qiraj by pretty much everyone who raided up to that point, so skipping all that trash for the only boss that did matter on that point seemed like a smart idea. Once Blizzard caught wind of this, almost all of Overrated's raiding team got a permaban.
You can check how the exploit worked below:
The thumbnail is broken, but the video still works.
Remember that using model editing programs is against the terms of service
I was really sad of learning of El's Anglin's closure. I won 2 Fishing Contests back in Vanilla and I owe that to him. Was really fun swimming around Stormwind as a fish and everyone asked where I got that!
As of the time this post goes up, I will be in Anaheim getting ready for Blizzcon. If you stop by the
on Thursday, say hi and give me some historic WoW facts!
And see you next week!
