Corruption effects are extremely powerful new bonuses in Patch 8.3, which have left a lot of players uncertain just what pieces of gear are best for them anymore. Luckily,
Raidbots
has been updated with several new features to help you evaluate Corruption, set limits to avoid the nasty negative effects, and figure out just which of the bonuses you may have been lucky enough to acquire so far are worth using!
These new updates to Top Gear, the Droptimizer, and Gear Compare make it easy to evaluate Corrupted items, allowing you to assign maximum Corruption thresholds, compare Ny'alotha weapons with their corruptions cleansed, and set specific corruptions in order to see how randomly corrupted pieces of gear would perform for you. Of all of them, Top Gear is the most useful, as stacking as much power as possible while staying below certain corruption thresholds is very important for progression oriented players prepare to tackle the new raid! If you're eager for more information, you can also read all about these new features in the
Raidbots Developer Blog

What's Raidbots?
Raidbots
is a web interface for
SimulationCraft
, an open source program which simulates combat within World of Warcraft; replicating every action and ability in order to create analytical data with which to give players an idea of how well certain spells, rotations, and pieces of gear perform. The primary use is evaluating pieces of gear, to see just how big of an upgrade certain items are. While SimulationCraft is the main program, it can be tricky to use and undergoes constant updates from its team of volunteer programmers; Raidbots keeps track of all these updates so that the general user doesn't have to, updating every night with the most up to date build so that you don't have to constantly download or rebuild new versions. Additionally, rather than using your own computing power to execute these simulations, most of which run several thousand iterations at a time, Raidbots uses its own bank of servers to take that burden off your machine. It also offers several types of simulations that can be very hard to put together using the manual program, making simulating a breeze for even the most novice user.
If this all sounds daunting, don't worry! We maintain a
How to Use Raidbots Guide and Sim Your Character Guide
which explains every feature and can help get you started using Raidbots today!
Ok, but what is Corruption?
Corruption replaced Titanforging for Patch 8.3, with all Season 4 content (everything which had its base item level raised, from World Quests to Mythic+ and the new Raid) item drops no longer able to Warforge, but able to proc a random corruption. While it is a very low chance and many players may not obtain several corrupted items to choose from for quite some time, it flips a lot of gear on its head, as deceptively low item level pieces of gear can have massive corruption bonuses. The system isn't wholly beneficial however, as stacking corruption introduces deadly side effects which grow in intensity as you become more corrupted, so juggling the amount of power gain from corruption along with the amount of negative effects you can handle is a tricky balance. This serves as the difference between titanforging - while previously you wanted every item to titanforge for max gains, you'll never be able to wear corruption on more than a few pieces of gear; so while you always wanted your Best in Slot items to Titanforge, it's ok if they don't all corrupt. If you're not familiar with how corruption works and what bonuses are available, that's alright; you can find out more in our handy Corruption System Overview linked below.
