Here's a quick breakdown of the changes to Shadowlands systems in the Dragonflight Pre-Patch and what happens when they overlap with Dragonflight talent tree options.
Shadowlands Systems in Dragonflight Pre-Patch
Talent Tree Overlaps
There are some Talent Tree abilities which have been inspired by or copied from Shadowlands systems. During the Dragonflight Pre-Patch, some of these overlaps can be picked up on the Talent Tree and obtained from a Shadowlands system simultaneously (such as a Legendary or Covenant ability).
Due to this overlap, the general rule is that the talent will
override
the Shadowlands system, even if the Shadowlands effect is more powerful. Due to this, there may be some cases where picking up a talent in Shadowlands may leave you worse off.
Shadowlands Legendaries
The only change to Shadowlands Legendaries is that they will only function in Shadowlands zones and content. Legendary powers will no longer function when doing the majority of legacy content. Legendaries will still work in returning Season 4 Mythic+ dungeons such as Iron Docks and Grimrail Depot.
Covenants - Abilities, Soulbinds and Conduits
Covenants, Soulbinds and Conduits will still function, but similar to Legendaries they will only be available in Shadowlands zones and content.
Evokers have had Covenant abilities, Soulbinds and Conduits added specifically for the Dragonflight Pre-Patch!
Tier Sets
Tier set bonuses are completely disabled. While you can still get the transmog from the Creation Catalyst, the set bonuses no longer function.
However, some of these bonuses are now on the Talent Trees!
